The latest casting scoop from the set of "Glee" may just leave you with the biggest trouty-mouthed pout ever. TVLine broke the news over the holiday weekend that Chord Overstreet will not be returning to the Fox series as a regular.
What does this mean exactly? According to the insider TVLine spoke with, Chord could appear in upcoming season three episodes as an occasional guest star, but don't expect Sam Evans to be loitering in the halls of McKinley High. (We should add, however, that you'll likely see even more of Darren Criss and Harry Shum Jr. as the same report noted they have been promoted to series regulars. Congrats, guys!)
The news about Chord is a bit of a shocker since it seemed executive producer Ryan Murphy had been teeing up a few intriguing plotlines for Sam. Late in season two it was revealed his family had become homeless, and as the finale came to a close, the camera lingered on him and Mercedes holding hands, hinting at a blossoming romance for the pair. Perhaps those guest spots will allow this storyline to be sussed out a bit, but it doesn't sound as though a long-term relationship is in the cards for these love birds.
Though Chord's only been on the series for a year, he's made plenty of waves in that time: he formed McKinley's first Justin Bieber tribute band, he dated both Quinn and Santana and earned perhaps one of our favorite nicknames of all time (Trouty Mouth!). That being said, it's not like we're losing Finn or Rachel (at least not yet). Which leaves us wondering: What do you think about the casting shakeup, Crushers? Are you sad to see Chord go? Or do you think his story has run its course? Vote in our poll below.
