Continuing with the bad news "Glee" fans received a few weeks back, which most of you were not excited to hear, Ryan Murphy has apparently confirmed the fact that next season will be the last for the series' breakout stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer.
Ryan told The Hollywood Reporter that Rachel, Finn and Kurt are "not going to be back at all for season four. You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year," he explained.
Ryan went on to say that the characters will spend a lot of time thinking, talking and singing about making plans post-high school, and that Rachel, Finn and Kurt are not the only characters saying goodbye to William McKinley High.
"More characters are leaving than are staying," he said, echoing his comments to Ryan Seacrest awhile back.
"I don’t think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are incredibly talented. They’ve left sort of an indelible mark," he explained.
"The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for eight years," he continued. "We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline."
