I don't think I would have slept through most of my college history classes if I'd had Andrea Cremer as my professor. When she's not teaching about race, religion and sexuality in Colonial America at Macalester College in Minnesota, she's writing novels about badass werewolf girls. Her novel "Wolfsbane" comes out next week, and is part of the reason we declared July Werewolf Month. You have all weekend to read the first book in the series, "Nightshade," and we think a story about werewolves roaming the mountains of Vail, Colorado, are just the right antidote for a heat wave, making it this week's Summer Beach Read.
"I had always thought, if I could turn into a wolf that would be the most fantastic thing I can imagine," Andrea told us, explaining what sets her wolves apart from those in "Teen Wolf," "Breaking Dawn" and the rest of the pack. "They're incredible, they're fast and ferocious, and they have wonderful relationships with their pack, and I really wanted to write a wolf mythology that reflected the way I saw wolves, instead of that once you turn into this half-man/half-beast, not only are you hideous to look at, you're also horrific to deal with and a danger to others if not to yourself as well."

After yesterday's "Breaking Dawn" panel at comic-con, anticipation for the final cinematic chapter of the "Twilight" saga has just gotten even more intense than it was before -- not least because we've got the promise of a big, white wedding and some lusty vampire sexing to look forward to! So when MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with Kristen Stewart after the panel, he just went for the obvious question: What was it like to get married to, and do it with, the charming Mr. Pattinson?
"Cullen," Kristen immediately corrects him. Ooooh, someone got told -- but with rumors abounding about the stars' supposed romance, Kristen isn't going to take any chances of letting us confuse Bella Swan's sex life with her own. But she will talk about her wedding! That is, Bella's wedding. Obviously. We won't make that mistake again.

Last year, she threw a barbecue to celebrate her big 18th birthday and this year, it seems, that Selena Gomez is kicking it low key for her 19th birthday.
"I think my mom has planned something for me," the actress/singer told E! News earlier this week. "I didn't really ask for anything, so I'm basically just going to be at tour rehearsal during the day. Maybe go to dinner at night with my family. Pretty boring."

James Franco is back on the market, ladies. That's right, Hollywood's ultimate Renaissance Man admits in the new issue of Playboy (and found its way on The Huffington Post) that he's single and ready to mingle.
"It's over," Franco says of his now defunct five-year relationship with Ahna O'Reily. "We'd been living together in L.A. and then came to New York to go school for two years. Then I signed up for more school at Yale. I think that was it for her."

Have you noticed that Emma Stone is everywhere? She popped up (as a blond!) in the new "The Amazing Spider-Man" trailer. She hit the "Friends With Benefits" red carpet in eye-catching hot pink and red alongside Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake on Monday night. Oh, and did we mention that she also stars in next week’s "Crazy, Stupid, Love" with Hollywood Crush favorite Ryan Gosling? As if we didn’t have enough reasons to hate love her, Emma graced that red carpet in one of her best looks ever. For this reason, after two consecutive weeks of recognizing Emma Watson as our Style Superstar, this week we bestow the honor to another Emma: Ms. Emma Stone! Keep reading to learn about her prize-winning ensemble.

Despite the heat wave, Emma was flawlessly fashionable at the New York City "Crazy, Stupid, Love" premiere Tuesday night. Her black lace Tom Ford dress is perfectly on trend for fall 2011. While we don’t recommend angular hip accents for the average girl, Emma carries the outfit remarkably well. A velvet bow, red lips and sleekly styled hair keep the look elegant. And Ryan Gosling as arm candy? Yup, that’s always in style! As her star meter keeps rising, we can't wait to see what she'll wear next.

Much has been made of "No Strings Attached" and "Friends With Benefits"—two conceptually similar romantic comedies—being released a mere six months apart. And, I'll admit, it's hard to completely discount the "haven't I seen this before?" mentality surrounding these dueling f--- buddy films.

But in truth, Hollywood—heck, the creative world in general—is no stranger to subject matter retreads. No one really seems to care that Shakespeare based "Romeo and Juliet" on an earlier Italian tale or that "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer used the Bard's star-crossed lovers as inspiration for her vampire romance. It's the unique manner and subtle nuances in which a familiar trope is refashioned that sets it apart (and saves the artiste from copyright infringement).
All of this is really just to say that Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis' flick is worthy of $10 and a two-hour time investment, even if you sat through similar sexual shenanigans with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman earlier this year. Because, in the end, they are two completely different movies that happen to rely on a similar theme.
Keep reading after the jump for three reasons to say yes to "Friends With Benefits."

In case you just didn't get enough of Taylor Lautner during our "Breaking Dawn" livestream earlier today at San Diego Comic-Con, I'm here to say you're in for a twofer. That's right! The abilicious star is returning for our Friday livestream to chat about his other upcoming release, "Abduction," out in September. And that's not all. Tomorrow's "MTV News: Comic-Con Takeover" will include futuristic foxes Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried talking about all things "In Time."
We'll be honest, we're kind of worried about the building spontaneously combusting from all that hotness. Especially since Channing Tatum will also stop by to dish on his action flick "Haywire." Woo, doggy!

FROM MTV STYLE: The HUMONGOUS NEWS at San Diego Comic-Con this year is NOT super-cute girl nerds in costume, OR rooftop swimming pool parties, OR onion rings for breakfast...it's this thing called TWILIGHT BREAKING DAWN and the fact that its leading man Robert Pattinson—the man with arguably the most awesome hair in the universe—has gone and shaved HALF HIS HEAD. We peeped his 'do straight from the Comic-Con hallway, and it is half-shaved. Like, he stopped mid cranium, put down the razor and was like, "Eh, I'm donezo here!" Twitter is exploding with reactions to RPattz's new hair, and, as of press time, we can confirm that his hair is NOT matted, but actually shaved. This a HUGE move for Robert, considering his flowy, life-of-their-own locks have always been his trademark.

San Diego may as well be located in a remote, mountainous region of Washington state for all the vampires and werewolves its playing host to today. (Not that we're complaining!) In fact, we're kicking off our three-day "MTV News: Comic-Con Takeover" with a "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" livestream extravaganza. And all of your favorites are here! Kristen Stewart! Robert Pattinson! Taylor Lautner! Ashley Greene! And many more!

It's been nearly five years since Justin Timberlake released his super-sultry second solo album FutureSex/LoveSounds, and if you're missing the singing-dancing JT, you may want to get yourself to a theater this weekend to see his raucous rom-com "Friends With Benefits."
In the film, Justin's character harbors an odd fascination with the 1998 Semisonic song "Closing Time," a tune which plays an integral role in he and Mila Kunis' love affair. But the standout ditty from this flick is no doubt Kriss Kross' 1992 jam "Jump."
Those of us of a certain age fondly remember the rap duo, who could never seem to get their clothing on forwards, and the addition of the song is a nostalgia nugget too yummy to ignore. So when I caught up with Justin earlier this week at the "Friends With Benefits" premiere, I had to ask if the former boy-bander had a hand in picking the silly song.
"We wanted to find a song that spoke to my younger days—and Mila's, as well. We both know the song," Justin said, as he recalled developing the script with Mila and writer/director Will Gluck.
