On Sunday night at the 2011 Video Music Awards, Victoria Justice was one of the many, many A-listers MTV News caught up with on the red carpet. When we spoke to the "Victorious" star, she had quite a lot to say about Lady Gaga's male alter ego, Jo Calderone, and how she felt inspired to cook up one all her own.
"I totally do [want to meet him]. Is he cute?" she pondered before launching into her own desire to have a Calderone-like alter ego. So, what would her other personality be like? "I want to have a male alter ego," she said. "I'd definitely be Victor something and he'd be a, like, a Puerto Rican cigar maker or something."
Dustin Milligan may be swimming with sharks in this week's "Shark Night 3D," but we noticed Dustin a while back thanks to a very impressive resume packed with various projects that show off the many sides of this Canadian cutie. And today, we show you another side as we declare him this week's Hump Day Hottie.
Check out this dreamy photo of Dustin, and then keep reading for more details about him!
Vital stats: Dustin, 26, grew up in Canada in a place that sounds very remote to us, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. He then moved on to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. Spoiler alert: It worked. Wondering what kinds of girls he likes? Well, he used to date his former "90201" co-star Jessica Stroup.
He's also a do-gooder. According to his website, he also started his own scholarship fund called, Enough Talk, Hurry Up and Do It Already Arts Scholarship Fund, which helps kids in his hometown as they embark on college careers in the arts.
We don't often report on the goings on of super hero movies—that's usually the province of our brother blog Splash Page. But when it involves our favorite sparkly vamps, we obviously have to take note.
In a new video from CollegeHumor, Nikki Reed and Peter Facinelli—clad in matching tight purple get-ups—play Wonder Twins Jayna and Zan, whom, I'm told by resident comic book dude, Josh Wigler, are "real" DC Comics heroes. In a world where Hollywood's run out of A-list superheroes, the duo auditions to fill the well-worn spandex. (Metaphorically, of course. We don't encourage sharing spandex. Diseases and such.) Except, well, their talents aren't all that exciting. Zan can morph into water, and Jayna can turn into any animal, and their display of a turtle in a jar of liquid is lackluster to say the least.
Those of you who missed the chance to see "Water for Elephants," best known as the grand cinematic romance in which Robert Pattinson does not play a vampire, make sure you mark your calendars! The BluRay and DVD of the film are being released this November, along with special features that ought to make movie-lovers (and RPattz aficionados) everywhere jump for joy.
In addition to getting the epic love story between a struggling young veterinarian and a jaded circus star, the BluRay disc also features:
-A Robert Pattinson spotlight
-A Reese Witherspoon featurette
-A visual effects special feature
-Inside looks at script development and set design
-Historical circus trivia
-And, of course, an audio commentary from the film's director and script-writer!
For those who tuned in to "Pretty Little Liars" last night, what a fun, crazy, dirty little summer finale that was, eh? Those showrunners are so good at the leave-em-guessing cliffhangers! Sadly, we'll have to wait until January (when new episodes premiere) for any sort of resolution, but lucky for us, we will get a tasty treat along the way in the form of a Halloween prequel episode!
MTV News caught up with Ashley Benson and Brendan Robinson recently on set to see what we could dig up about the prequel, as well as what kind of trouble almost-step-sister Kate has in store for Hanna.
"She's going to mix in a lot with my storyline," Ashley told us of Kate's storyline. "In the last couple episodes you've seen their interactions and they haven't been too pleasant. Kate has this evil plan to ruin Hanna's life," she said. "She makes her throw up on her mom's wedding dress, she's trying to make my dad not want me anymore. He's already left and found a new family so it would be easier, but yeah, she's trying to make me as miserable as possible."
The fall issue of VMAN magazine is being billed as "an inventory of masculinity"—so it makes perfect sense that Taylor Lautner, who is, indeed, a man, is giving us quite the intense man-stare out of his manly man-eyes on the mag's manly black-and-white cover. He's even sporting a light sheen of man-sweat and some stubbly hairs on his chiseled man-chin! Oh, the huMANity! (Hurr, hurr.)
Of course, all this man-tastic masculinity might be a challenge for fans of "The Twilight Saga," who still identify Taylor first and foremost as a teenage heartthrob... specifically, a teenage heartthrob with boyish good looks and not so much as a single chest hair. But we think you'll get used to it! Especially since, despite being totally manned out for his photo shoot, he is still talking about his role in everyone's favorite vampire romance.
As you know, the Hollywood Crush team has been holding "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross hostage at our secret underground lair (or, y'know, chatting with him over Skype), in order to get lots of inside skinny on next year's most hotly anticipated book-to-big-screen project. And this time around, we asked Gary about one of the most critical elements of adapting this book for film: getting the right perspective, so that it packs an emotional punch beyond that of a mere, mindless action flick. And once again, Gary proved that he's got an understanding of the book right on a par with its most die-hard fans.
"That's one of the fun things about it," he said. "There are times when you're viscerally inside [Jennifer Lawrence's] shoes, and that's the main experience."
But wait! There's more! Because in addition to being right inside Katniss' head, we're also going to get the experience of being a Panem resident, watching the Games on our own dystopian television.
Here's hoping fluorescent orange is the new black, because it looks like the "Pretty Little Liars" could be stuck sporting that very unflattering hue in the form of matching jumpsuits.
Last night's season finale found the girls (sans Emily) in an interrogation room in the Rosewood police station—clad in some very sad, mud-caked party frocks. And who should come in to question them? Nope, not Officer Garrett. It's their old friend, Detective Wilden. "Homicide is a capital offense in the state of Pennsylvania, and you girls are going down," he warned (with a little too much enthusiasm). And that's when the flashbacks began.
Now that we've had a few days to chew on "The Hunger Games" sneak peek debuted during the MTV Video Music Awards, we're ready to turn our attention to what's next on the menu. Namely, a full-length "Hunger Games" trailer!
Odds are many of you have already formulated trailer wish lists the size of Panem, detailing every little odd and end you'd die to see in the next piece of promotion for the dystopian drama. And you better believe Hollywood Crush has done the same! Feast on our five must-see scenes after the jump!
In true "Pretty Little Liars" fashion, we're hours away from the series' summer finale, and we feel simultaneously closer and further away from uncovering the true identity of demented texter A. Will we know who she/he is by the time the credits roll on tonight's episode? We fear not, but when we spoke to star Lucy Hale on the "PLL" set recently, she did give us a few hints as to what we should expect in tonight's action-packed episode.
Being that we chatted before last week's reveal that the girls told Dr. Sullivan about their A problem, Lucy was a bit guarded with her answer. "The girls have made, you know, a decision as a group to finally, for the first time, to talk about A to someone. Who I cannot name," she said coyly. "But, they tell this person, and then A finds out and gets revenge." Yep, all things we know. But here's where it gets good:
