With Sam Evans kissing New Directions good-bye, secret girlfriend Mercedes' romantic forecast was looking less than sunny on "Glee." But no more! The feisty diva (played by Amber Riley) will rebound with a new boy in the upcoming third season!
Variety reports that LaMarcus Tinker has been cast in a recurring role as Marcus, a love interest for newly single Mercedes. LaMarcus is a familiar face to avid TV watchers—he played a linebacker on "Friday Night Lights" and Travis' college roommate on "Cougar Town." No word on where he'll fit into the William McKinley High stratosphere, but with his on-screen gridiron history, it wouldn't be a stretch for him to join the football team. Or who knows? Maybe he's hiding some New Directions-worthy song-and-dance skills?
Whatever the case, we're just glad to see Mercedes getting her own little something something. After two years of watching from the romantic sidelines, it's certainly time she get her hands on the ball—so to speak.
The casting news rounds out what's shaping up to be a busy week for our favorite Lima, Ohio, high-schoolers. Just today, star Lea Michele tweeted a picture of herself back on set, done up in Rachel's signature plaid and knee socks. And, of course, Friday marks the opening of the Fox musical series' first big-screen effort, "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie."
What do you think about Mercedes' new boy toy? Are you happy that she'll finally have a love interest? Do you plan on seeing the "Glee" movie this weekend? Sound off in the comments and on Twitter!
