Tie on your Merlotte's apron and grab a bottle of Tru Blood, because we're headed back to Bon Temps for another year.
HBO announced today that they've renewed "True Blood" for a fifth season, which will go into production later this year, and we couldn't be more thrilled. All together now: SOOKEH!
Creator Alan Ball didn't seem to have any doubts about the show coming back for another year during last month's Comic-Con, teasing several different plot points that will be hit in future seasons. And, not surprisingly, we also have a few ideas about what we'd like to see happen in season five of "True Blood." Check ours (and his) out after the jump! (Slightly spoilery if you haven't read the book series!)
We Want: More Love Interests
More?! you may ask. Yes, more, more, more! Sure, Sookie already has a pretty full load of men vying for her affections with Eric, Bill, Alcide and Sam floating around, but since we don't see Eric being without his memories for another season, it's time for someone new to enter the fray. My vote: Quinn. The weretiger will at least give Eric a run for his money as the Shreveport sheriff struggles to deal with not remembering his recent romp with Ms. Stackhouse, and we'll have another love triangle to look forward to.
Alan Ball Wants: More Supes
And, if Quinn joins the show, then that leads right into the first thing Alan promised: more supernatural creatures. Sure, we've seen werewolves and werepanthers, but weretigers would be a fun addition to the show. As for what other supes could head to Bon Temps, we're a bit stumped. There are elves and goblins and the like in Charlaine Harris' novels, but we're not so sure how those will fit in on the HBO series. As long as there aren't mermaids, we'll be happy.
We Want: More Vampire Politics
Season three might have overdone the vampire politics aspect a bit too much, but it's still one of our favorite elements of "True Blood." We're getting a taste of it this season with Bill as the new king of Louisiana, but what about his interactions with the kings and queens of other states? We're sure there will be plenty of power struggles to look forward to once this witch situation is taken care of.
Alan Ball Wants: Pam's Turning Scene
Alan promised, and he better deliver. There are few moments in "True Blood"'s mythology that we are looking forward to seeing more than the who, what, where, when and why of Eric's decision to turn Pam into a vampire. Aww-inducing moments are mandatory.
We Want: Fewer Storylines!
We get it, there are plenty of great characters on "True Blood" with their own colorful stories going on, but enough is enough. There has been way too much going on over the past few seasons of the show, and though the story ends up being tied together fairly neatly, we'd appreciate it if there were fewer plotlines floating around. And it could give us more time to swoon over Eric.
