Okay, so we know that Lionsgate did a perfectly fine job casting actual actors like Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson in "The Hunger Games," but considering that the MTV Video Music Awards are thisclose and that the flick's first footage will make its debut during said ceremony, we thought it would be fun to cast the flick using—you guessed it!—some of the biggest nominees from the night.

So, here we go with "The Hunger Games: Pop-Star Edition"!

One day. That's all that's left until the first "Hunger Games" footage premieres at the MTV Video Music Awards, airing Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

We've been doing anything and everything the past week to pass the time, and today we've decided to take a trip way back to 2010, when we still thought "The Hunger Games" would only be adapted into three movies and figured Jennifer Lawrence was off the table for the role of Katniss Everdeen because she didn't have brown hair. How naïve!

"The Hunger Games" turned out to be a bit different than we first thought it would be when it was optioned back in 2009. After the jump, we review a few movie rumors that didn't have the odds in their favor. Though they didn't come true, these misleading stories kept us guessing until they were disproved.

This purpose of this post is to tell you that the Nicholas Sparks-penned, Zac Efron-starring "The Lucky One" finally has a release date. But truth be told, we've been not-so-secretly looking for any excuse to re-post this biceplicious photo...and now we have one!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Lucky One"—in which Zac plays a soldier who returns from Iraq in search of the mysterious girl whose picture he carried during the war—will bow August 24, 2012. Yep, a whole darn year away.

Selena Gomez is set to appear as our special pre-show correspondent at the 2011 Video Music Awards this Sunday. She’ll be reporting live from the black carpet when the show goes live from sunny L.A., and a slew of A-listers are set to walk the carpet and party it up at the biggest music bash of the year.

This week, we caught up with Selena’s pal, Demi Lovato, at a fan meet and greet, and she was pretty sure that Selena could handle the hosting gig without any additional words of wisdom from her. "I have no advice because I’ve never hosted anything in my life," the "Skyscraper" singer said with a laugh.

Okay, so Demi may not have any advice for Bieber’s best gal, but she did have this to say about her Disney cohort: "But she's great; she'll do fine."

Who's got the luckiest butt at this year's Video Music Awards? It's debatable, but we're putting our money on Kim Kardashian as the big winner: the celebrity seating assignments for Sunday night's show have been revealed, and the reality TV darling will be planting her famously famous derriere right next to none other than Taylor Lautner. And between Kim's butt and Taylor's bod, these seats are about to contain more sexiness per square inch than any other pair in the house.

Also of note: the Diva Seats, where Britney Spears will be camped out right next to Beyoncé, and the Aww You're Killing Us With The Cuteness Seats, where VMA pre-show host Selena Gomez will be cuddling up alongside real-life boyfriend Justin Bieber. Think we'll catch them stealing a smooch during the commercial breaks? Or will they be playing it cool for the cameras? (Our guess: the latter, for safety's sake. Fans of the Biebs can be vicious when threatened.)

We're still a few weeks away from the finale of "True Blood"'s bewitching fourth season, but that certainly doesn't mean it's too early to speculate about the recently announced fifth season.

To wit, when we caught up with Vampire Bill himself, Mr. Stephen Moyer, at the junket for his mystery-thriller "The Caller" (opening in limited release today), we couldn't help but beg for some scoop straight from Bon Temps. And Stephen delivered, hinting that this season's arc is setting us up for potentially bigger things to come.

"Obviously I'm not going to tell you what happens at the end of this season, but it's very much heading towards already what is going to happen in season five," he said. "And it sounds amazing."

Robert Pattinson got us all hot and bothered when he revealed there would be "a lot of sex" in his upcoming period drama "Bel Ami," and thanks to a slew of new stills released from the production, we can verify that the actor wasn't just toying with our emotions. (He also warned us about his, er, crack showing, but sadly, there's none to see here.)

The steamy new pics hit the web yesterday via Robsessed, and in all but one, Mr. Pattinson is seen clutching his lady loves in embraces that can be described thusly: dead sexy, tender, contemplative and loving. (What range!)

A quick refresher: Based on the Guy de Maupassant novel, "Bel Ami" tells the story of young journalist Georges Duroy (Robert), who quickly rises to the top of Parisian society via the beds of several influential women, played by the likes of Christina Ricci, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas.

If you were hoping that Derek Jeter would celebrate his 3,000th hit with a post-season wedding, here comes the Disappointment Train.

People has confirmed that the awesome Yankee shortstop has split with longtime girlfriend Minka Kelly, making him baseball's most eligible bachelor once again (and officially disproving those rumors of an engagement in the works). But although he's now single and looking to mingle, there's just one problem: baseball isn't the only field in which Derek is, y'know, prolific... as in, he's already played ball with just about every available girl on the face of the earth. And with so few ladies left, what's a guy to do?

Our video lead-in has Jennifer Lawrence in voiceover, discussing the extensive training she's gone through in order to fill the role of the hunting, gathering, arrow-slinging heroine Katniss Everdeen—training which looks to have paid off, as the teaser photo shows Jennifer bolting through blurry greenery, at an all-out sprint, with a grimace on her face.
