We're used to seeing Taylor Lautner get physical in his role as lovesick shape shifter Jacob Black in "The Twilight Saga," but considering most of the action takes place while in his wolf form, we've really been anticipating Taylor's bona fide action debut in the upcoming "Abduction."
Taylor plays a high-schooler named Nathan who discovers he's actually a missing child and goes on the run with classmate Karen (played by Lily Collins) to uncover his true identity. But with a release date nearly a month away, right now we're more interested in Taylor's true identity. Luckily, the heartthrob opened up in October's Seventeen magazine, talking relationships, "Twilight" and, of course, muscles.
Yes, muscles. Let's start there. For his kick-butt role in "Abduction," Taylor said he had to brush up on some of his old wrestling skills to convincingly portray hero Nathan.
"'Abduction' was super physical for me," he said. "I'd never boxed before, so I had to train for a couple of months. The last time I wrestled was when I was six years old, so I had to work on that."
Another thing he had to work on? His fear of motorcycles! (Who would have thought after "The Twilight Saga" that Taylor wasn't perfectly comfortable riding a hog!?)
"It was a legit street racing bike," Taylor recalled of one of his adrenalin-fueled action sequences in "Abduction." "And I'm not the biggest motorcycle fan—they're cool and a lot of fun, but they're scary as well!" (Call us if you want us to ride with you next time, Tay!)
Though motorcycles seem to give Taylor a case of the jitters, one thing that doesn't get him nervous is relationships, or working on relationships, at least. (Lucky, Lily!) "It's important to work through things in a relationship. You can't just give up because you're frustrated. It's most important to talk things through together."
Words of advice Taylor's alter ego Jacob Black should take to heart. But the 19-year-old readily admits to sympathizing with his "Twilight" character considering the events of the saga's final chapters.
“When he gets the invitation to the wedding, he doesn't handle it very well. And I don't think I would either," Taylor admitted. "If I were in love with a girl and she told me she was marrying somebody else, that would crush me."
Us too, Taylor. Us too.
