Lucy Hale is a secret singer. Well, it's not that much of a secret. She did appear on the "American Idol" teen spin-off, "American Juniors," sang a bit on "Pretty Little Liars" and sings a whole lot in "A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song."
When MTV News caught up recently with the actress, she revealed some of her former pop star back story. "Well, the whole reason I got brought out to L.A. [was] I grew up my whole life singing; that's what I wanted to do," she said. "Acting wasn’t even in the picture. I wanted to get a record deal. I was 15 at the time. The year before I had done 'American Juniors,' so we formed this group and we were signed to Jive Records. It was a great experience. I learned a lot about the music industry, and obviously that didn’t work out. It was a little discouraging. I was still striving for it."
When that didn't pan out for the multi-talented lady, she gave acting a try. Spoiler alert: That's worked out a bit better for her. "Acting sort of took off, and I fell in love with it, and then this movie came along… I was really excited cause I knew it was a musical," she said, raving about working with the music production team, Rock Mafia. "I had never been in the studio and recorded songs that could be on the radio right now. It was a good experience."
So now that she's given it a try, might we see some more music from Lucy? "I'm hoping the soundtrack does really well," she said. "There's a couple things kind of in the works. I definitely would love to make an album, but I want to make sure it’s exactly what I want to do."
Have you bought "A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song" yet? Do you hope Lucy makes an album?
