As a glance at the latest red-carpet styles will tell you, the first couple weeks of September are a tricky time for dressing oneself. It's a strange time of year—too late for skimpy summer clothes, too early to break out the full-on Fall Looks, and with temperatures so fickle, something which seems perfectly comfortable in the A.M. can lead to crisis levels of Crotch Swamp by noon. And, for the celebrity ladies who walked the red carpet this week, it was a real hit-or-miss moment for putting an outfit together...as today's Style Superstar shows only too well! Which fashion "Warrior" took home the gold for conquering this style challenge? And who (color)blocked herself from a win this time around? Read on!

Although there's no edict against sporting bare shoulders after Labor Day, it can still be a tough look to pull off. But Jennifer Morrison, who showed up at the "Warrior" premiere in this gleaming gold party dress by Jacques Fath Haute Couture, has got perfect season-spanning style. Instead of trying to get away with a too-wispy summertime look, Jennifer went for a below-the-knee hemline and textured detailing that give the dress plenty of weight, and her champagne-colored close-toed pumps are fully on the side of fall. But the strapless silhouette and gleaming sheen? Pure Indian summer, and a perfect offset to her pretty blond hair. (Not that we need to tell Jennifer that; with that giant smile, we're pretty sure the girl knows she looks awesome.)
Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker also went for the best of both seasons when she showed up to "The Late Show with David Letterman" in this ultra-bright Prabal Gurung ensemble. These hot color-blocked shades pack a vibrant punch for when the leaves start to fall, and the flowing material is lightweight and breathable: a great pick for this time of year. But while Sarah Jessica does cut quite the bright silhouette on this drab and dreary New York evening, we're afraid that everyone who dared to look directly at her probably sustained serious retinal burns. This is just too much unbroken color on SJP's tiny frame, and the big ruffly collar looks like it's trying to eat her head. We wish that she'd broken up her colorblocked brights with a belt, and worn her hair up to make that neckline a little less overwhelming! (Um, also? Avoiding white shoes after Labor Day is pretty much the only fashion rule we're aware of, and she's breaking it. Just sayin'.)
Do you agree with our picks for this week's best and worst dressed?
