As fall premiere season chugs along, there are a number of female-driven comedies that are really getting us excited to be, well, females. "2 Broke Girls" over on CBS is one of those shows. And this week, Zooey Deschanel's new Fox comedy, "New Girl," drops as well, and it has us thanking god(dess) that we'll be charmed by Zooey week after week. As a result, we're naming her this week's Girl Crush!
"I think it's amazing," she told MTV News about the wave of funny lady successes. "I think we're in a time right now where there was a tipping point [and] so many of the pilots that were picked up are female leads, female written. Girls are kicking butt in comedy. I feel like this is a new frontier. I feel like it's a really exciting time right now for women and comedy."
Given the box-office success of movies starring funny ladies, we have to say it is a great time for women who make us laugh getting the recognition they deserve. Not surprising, Zooey's own Girl Crush is one of the ladies leading this charge.
"Tina Fey," she said of the "30 Rock" star. "I just love Tina Fey. She's the ideal of what a girl should be, I think."
