All week long, we've been highlighting Hollywood's hottest up-and-comers, inducting 10 special stars-in-the-making into our New Class. Today we draw our feature to a close, but not before honoring two lovely ladies who've got big things on the horizon. Please welcome Sarah Gadon and Shailene Woodley to The New Class!
Sarah may not be a household name just yet, but after her starring turn alongside Robert Pattinson in the 2012 David Cronenberg flick, "Cosmopolis," we're pretty sure guys and (potentially jealous) girls alike will have her name on the tip of their tongues for years to come.
We dubbed Sarah Most Likely To Wear A Corset, seeing as her porcelain pretty looks make her a top contender to star in any number of period pieces in the future. When we spoke to Sarah about her New Class honor, she admitted the road to success has been a long one.
"You go through different arcs in your career," Sarah explained. "I think when I was younger, I was very into the performing side of the industry. I came to acting through that way, and then having gone to university and studied cinema studies and watching tons of films and understanding film theory and making a conscious choice of working with auteur director marks a new chapter in my development as an artist."
Another actress in the midst of a new career chapter is Shailene. You likely recognize Shailene from her ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," in which she deals weekly with the angst of being a teen mom. But Shailene's taking on a slightly different (though still serious) role in the George Clooney film "The Descendants."
We dubbed Shailene Most Likely To Suprise thanks to her turn in the family drama, and as it turns out, Shailene has plenty of actors (besides George) too look up to.
"I think the world of Natalie Portman and Ryan Gosling and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I find them so inspiring, not only as actors, but as human beings, and I really respect their choices in films and what they bring to the table," she said.
