Bruno Mars let his heart bleed on his "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack ballad, "It Will Rain," which was released last month. Now, Christina Perri wears her heart on her sleeve for her contribution to the soundtrack, "A Thousand Years." The official lyric video hit the web last night.
The song is a mid-tempo piano ballad about the power of eternal love, a fitting theme considering that Edward and Bella pledge their love eternal in the flick, out November 18.
On it, she sings, "Heart beats fast/Colors and promises/How to be brave/How can I love when I'm afraid to fall/Watching you stand alone/All of my doubt/Suddenly goes away somehow/One step closer." Considering that both Edward and Bella will have to forgo fears they may have about getting married and eventually starting a family together, the lyrics seem to mirror their struggle.
The chorus really sums up their relationship and their passion to commit to one another. "I have died every day waiting for you/Darling don't be afraid/I have loved you for a thousand years," Christina sings as the music soars. "I'll love you for a thousand more."
While there's a lot of pain and strife in Bruno's track, Christina's is certainly an optimistic answer to his sad call. Her track focuses more on the good that can come from love, while he focuses on the hurt that can come with heartache.
Want to hear more songs off the soundtrack? You'll have to wait a few weeks longer. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1" soundtrack hits stores on November 8.
