The first full-length "Hunger Games" trailer set the internet ablaze this morning, and you better believe we'll be talking about it for days to come. With first looks at Peeta, Effie, Haymitch and Cinna (not to mention The Reaping, The Capitol and tribute training), there's plenty to unpack. First up: We hopped on the Skypes with several experts from around the fandom to get their take on the new clip. And if there was one overarching reaction, it was tears.
"I was crying," Arianna Ruiz from Down With the Capitol admitted. "I've never cried before with a trailer, but it's so emotional, and it's so wonderful to see my favorite book brought to life. And I'm sure it was the same for everyone else as well."
"There were lots of tears," agreed Megan Scott from The Hob.
"The Reaping scene, especially," Amanda Belcher chimed in. "We all teared up. I mean, how could you not? When Katniss is screaming and you see Prim being carried away..."
"Hunger Games" Examiner Sara Gundell, however, is reserving the waterworks until she sees the finished product. "This is probably the most excited I've been about this movie in, I don't know, a while," she said. "I'm still cautious going into 'The Hunger Games.' But after seeing the trailer, I'm about 10 times more optimistic than I was beforehand."
For Arianna, the trailer held almost too many gems to keep count. "I love the entire thing," she enthused. "I've watched it so many times now. There are so many little scenes in there, so you have to keep watching it over and over again to see everything."
Yet, for the admins of The Hob, the clip was an example of a trailer that fueled fans while not giving everything away.
"We're happy with less," Megan concluded.
