"The Secret" is soooo 2009, but this little tidbit of cinematic news has us wondering if there might be something to it. Check it out: Awhile back, author Ransom Riggs put it out into the universe—in an interview right here on Hollywood Crush, no less!—that of all the possible auteurs in the world, he'd love it more than anything if Tim Burton signed on to direct the movie adaptation of his book: "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children." And behold, only a few short months later, the universe has answered!
And by "the universe" we mean "Deadline," and by "answered" we mean "HOLYOMG TIM BURTON REALLY IS IN TALKS TO DIRECT MISS PEREGRINE'S."
Of course, it probably helps that the Burton hookup was already a match made in heaven: On one end, you've got the movie world's King of Macabre Whimsy, and on the other, you have a book about supernaturally peculiar kiddies (telepaths, floaters, pyrokinetics) that's rife with the sort of creepy-vintage imagery that Burton just loves to play with. But whether it's wish-fulfillment or just fate, the director of "Edward Scissorhands" and "Alice in Wonderland" is definitely giving this project the lustful eyeball.
