It's no secret that we love our "Harry Potter" stars here at Hollywood Crush. Even more so when they're embarking on new and intriguing adventures, like Jessie Cave's colorful, quirky, creative website, PinDippy.
Really the best way to understand Jessie's wonderfully fun pastiche of doodles, videos and assorted "stuff," is to head over to her site as soon as possible, especially because she just launched an official "store" section from which you can purchase T-shirts, tote bags and stickers made by Jessie herself. Perfect timing for Black Friday and Christmas gifts!
Hollywood Cruh recently caught up with the lady also known as Lavender Brown to find out more about PinDippy and her post-"Potter" life.
Hollywood Crush: So how is life post-Potter?
Jessie Cave: It’s very good. I’ve had such a lovely "Harry Potter" experience. I did the [sixth] film and then I did the press and then I had a break, and I was kind of in the last one but not really. I’ve had all the nice fun bits of it and am very lucky, whereas the others like Rupert [Grint] and everyone, it’s very, very intense what they have to do and I’m sort of in awe of how much they do. They work really really hard; it’s a machine.
What are you up to, work-wise?
I’m filming "Great Expectations" with kind of the entire "Harry Potter" cast, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane, it’s really fun. It’s just such a nice job [Writer's note: For those familiar with the Charles Dickens classic, Jessie plays Biddy in the film], and it’s a really nice part. My little sister is playing me when I’m young—she’s 10 years younger. It’s been the nicest experience, and I got that really from my website, PinDippy, which is short videos and illustrations and stuff and the director [Mike Newell] saw PinDippy. It’s been just a really great experience, and I feel really lucky. It’s a modern adaptation by David Nicholls who wrote “One Day” which is brilliant. He did the screenplay so it’s really good. It’s very traditional, they’re not doing any weird zombie kind of things, it’s really really beautiful.
Tell us a little more about PinDippy
PinDippy is about being proud to be a bit different. I just opened my shop so that’s kind of what I'm doing. It’s in cyberspace. I would love a [physical store] someday, but it’s online; it’s really exciting. It’s aimed at women really, and I’m going to start doing baby clothes. It’s a lot of work but I really enjoy it. It’s great because I feel really clever doing stuff on the internet because I know how to do stuff and I’ve never known stuff before, so it’s fun. A lot of "Harry Potter" fans go on it, but more people are finding it now. I’m really grateful for the fan support, I hope others find it as well. We just did a video spoof of Lavender, Luna and Cho because we were just in Orlando. We filmed that in Honeydukes, it was really fun.
What do you think about the Oscar buzz surrounding "Deathly Hallows: Part 2?"
I haven't heard anything about that yet! I think it would be nice for the film to get some sort of recognition for something. [Director] David Yates I worship as a person, he’s a really nice guy. He's going to direct the "Dr. Who" movie. I just saw him, and if I had known that I would have sucked up so much, I had the opportunity to suck up and I didn’t. I probably sucked up without realizing it. But I think he’s just brilliant so if he got any type of award that would be lovely.
