Vampire mama-drama, a Zac Efron tearjerker, a new gothic fairytale and a veritable horde of hot naked men: Yep, there was some stiff competition for the primo spot on our list of the most-anticipated movies on deck for the coming year! But with a fervent fan following, an amazing cast and one of the most inventive plot premises ever snatched up by Hollywood, not even the final film in "The Twilight Saga" or the promise of extended footage of Joe Manganiello's bare-naked butt could compete with the thrilling first film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' bestselling trilogy of YA books—and that's why "The Hunger Games" is our hands-down No. 1 pick for Hottest Movie of 2012.

It's hard to say what's more exciting about finally seeing "The Hunger Games" on the big screen: the wild costumery? The action-packed arena sequences? The incredible cast of young up-and-comers? The crowd-pleasing cameos by Stanley "The Tooch" Tucci and Woody "I Make Sadness Hilarious" Harrelson? Or, perhaps, the glorious feature film debut of Seneca Crane's beard?!

TempestWhat are you doing on New Year's Eve? Whatever it is, it's probably not as cool as hanging out with offscreen BFFs Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The "(500) Days of Summer" stars teamed up and recorded a new duet for Zooey's website, HelloGiggles, and it's basically the most adorable thing we've seen all week.

The duo covered Nancy Wilson's classic "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" in a low-production video posted to YouTube. Ever since JGL joined ZD in She & Him's "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here" music video, we've been obsessing about their mutual exploits off screen as well as on. We've been crossing our fingers for them to team up again onthe big screen, but the closest we've gotten is their hilarious Cinemash of "Sid and Nancy."

Let's be real, y'all: If ever there was a holiday with the potential to be catastrophically terrible, it's New Year's Eve. The post-Christmas blues, the abundant alcohol, the emotional grab-bag of year-end stresses...combine all of these things, and even the most carefully planned evening by the most mentally stable individual is 90 percent likely to end in tears, vomit or (worst of all) VOMIT TEARS.

But don't worry! Because this year, we've got experts on call to help you prevent disaster: the stars of "New Year's Eve" took some time out of their red-carpet walking and waving at the film's premiere, to tell you exactly how NOT to behave as you count down the final hours of 2011.

First, some sage advice from Jessica Biel: "[Don't] plan an important evening. Don't do that, because it's too much pressure. If you're planning on having the best night of the year, you will have the worst night of the year."

And instead, Jessica suggested the following: "Plan nothing. And then see what happens."

TempestAs we close the book on 2011, we can't help but get a little giddy about all that 2012 will bring—including an entire bookshelf (or two) full of new, unputdownable reads. So, as we're wont to do, we've compiled a list of the 12 YA novels we can't wait to devour in 2012. Here you'll find finales to well-loved series, fresh entries from debut authors and a few of the usual suspects. Peruse our list and leave your own most-anticipated tomes in the comments section!

12. "The Book of Blood and Shadow" by Robin Wasserman (April 10, 2012)
Nora's best friend Chris is dead, his girlfriend, Adriane, is catatonic, and Nora's boyfriend, Max, is missing and accused of Chris' killing. An ancient manuscript holds the key to the mysterious murder, sending Nora on a hunt through the streets of Prague. Consider "Blood and Shadow" the angsty step-daughter to "The Da Vinci Code."

11. "Pandemonium" by Lauren Oliver (February 28, 2012)
Lauren left us sobbing into our pillows after the blood-soaked conclusion to her dystopian drama "Delirium." What will life be like for Lena behind the fence? We can't wait to find out.

10. "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green (January 10, 2012)
Having been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer at the age of 12, Hazel didn't imagine much of a future for herself. That is, until the tumor miraculously shrinks two years later. As Hazel looks towards an uncertain future, further complications arise when she meets gorgeous fellow cancer patient Augustus Waters in a support group. We expect plenty of tissues will be in order for this one.

We're already looking forward to cataloging the fashion and finery of next year's most well-dressed celebs—but before we get crazy in 2012, we have to look back on a year of Style Superstars! And today, we're giving top honors to five lovely ladies who really wowed us with their haute couture-itude over the past 12 months.

Emma Stone was a frequent contender for best-dressed all year, but her coral-colored Carven gown was one of our favorite looks of 2011.

Jamie Chung didn't just kick some butt in "Sucker Punch"; she was a knockout on the red carpet at the film's premiere in this Giambattista Valli dress with its gorgeous, golden draping.

With all the outings for the "Twilight" cast this year, it's no surprise that a Cullen family member was one of our most stylish stars! Ashley Greene sported lots of lovely looks during premiere events for "Breaking Dawn," but it was her Ferragamo ensemble at the presentation of the 2012 collection—an out-of-character design for her—that really caught our eye.

We won’t care if the world implodes in 2012, as long as said implosion happens after November 16. Why? That’s when "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" finally hits theaters. The penultimate chapter of the saga took MTV News' fan-voted honors for best ensemble, best couple, best dressed and, obviously, best sex scene. It’s no surprise, then, that "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" is Hollywood Crush’s second most anticipated movie in 2012.

During our last visit to Forks, we saw Bella’s stunning vampire transformation, and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg recently told us that she’s most looking forward to seeing Kristen Stewart portray Bella as an immortal (we definitely agree). Plus, after her scarily gaunt pregnancy look in "Part 1," it will be a welcome change to see Bella live up to her name, which means "beautiful" in Italian.

Elle FanningIt's a well-known law of the universe that, at any given time, there must be a young actress from the Fanning family available to knock our socks off in big Hollywood movies and look fantastic in teen fashion mags—and now that Dakota is coming up on legal adulthood, it's time for sister Elle Fanning to take a place in the spotlight. And look, here she is! Looking lovely on the cover of February's Teen Vogue!

Elle is currently starring in the holiday feel-good film "We Bought a Zoo," and in her interview, she talks about her approach to acting, what it's like to follow in her big sister's footsteps and how she handles suddenly starring alongside Hollywood's A-list in feature films.

Sideburns never looked so good.

While we've been all kinds of excited about Zac Efron's upcoming turn as a Marine in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "The Lucky One," the actor's been quietly working on another project that sounds, perhaps, even more interesting (though likely won't include a rain-soaked make-out scene). It's called "The Paperboy," and as a belated Christmas gift (or final day of Hanukkah present), the studio's released the vintage-style movie poster (complete with an extra helping of Zefron bicep).

The period drama stars Matthew McConaughey as a reporter who returns home to investigate the killing of a local sheriff by a man (John Cusack) now on death row. He's aided by his little brother (Zac), who's embarked on a romance with the inmate's girlfriend (Nicole Kidman). Directed by Lee Daniels, who scored an Oscar nom for his work on "Precious," we're expecting this film to boast just as much grit and intrigue (after all, the short synopsis alone includes murder and unfaithfulness...)

Hunger GamesWith 2011 winding down, it's time to start thinking New Year's resolutions—y'know, those frequently-vowed and rarely-achieved promises we make to ourselves to be fitter, happier, and all-around better people in the coming year. But while we ponder our preferred methods of self-improvement in 2012 (Eat more spinach? Be nicer to our sister? Stop stealing candy from babies?), we've got a treat for the resolution enthusiast: a sneak peek at the New Year's resolutions of a few favorite characters from "The Hunger Games." Because, hey, just because you're living in dystopian misery or orchestrating a revolution, that doesn't mean you can't vow to be a better You. Which Panem residents are planning to be paragons of good behavior for the next 12 months? The answer may surprise you!

Last week, we kicked off our countdown of the Top 10 Hump Day Hotties of 2011, and with babes like Chris Hemsworth, Armie Hammer and Joseph Morgan already on the list, it may have you wondering just who else is left. Well, the wait is over. Here’s our Top 5 Hotties of the year.

5. Alexander Skarsgård, “True Blood”
His "True Blood" character, Eric Northman, is often naked, and we can’t complain. But not only did he strip away those layers this season, he also stripped away his vampy bravado, making not only Sookie fall for him, but us as well. Then again, we already were pretty sweet on him to begin with.
