When it comes to sci-fi dramas, a grizzled patriarch is a must-have—and the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" might have just scored one serious dude for this pivotal role!
Entertainment Weekly reports that William Hurt is in talks to join the cast as Jeb, the hard-working father figure in the movie's cave-dwelling herd of humans. (Note: If you don't know who William Hurt is, just look up his IMDb page; it'll take all of two seconds before you say, "Oh! It's that guy!")
William has plenty of experience as a conflicted old guy, with roles under his belt that range from professorial to Presidential. And if he comes on board, he'll will be playing uncle to heroine Melanie/Wanderer (a dual role played by Saoirse Ronan) as well as heading up the motley crew of survivors that includes Melanie's love interest Jared (Max Irons), as well as alien crushee Ian (Jake Abel). Plus, the best part: With the cast beginning to round out, it won't be long before we can start looking for behind-the-scenes glimpses from the production, including the post-apocalyptic setting where the story takes place.
