We know it’s hard to believe that Zac Efron has never been one of our Hump Day Hotties. But, we’re making amends before 2011 wraps up and showing the "New Year’s Eve" actor some major love. So, Zac, in order to ring in the New Year right, we resolve to finally name you our Hump Day Hottie. (And we're not the only ones swooning over Zac; click on the video below to hear co-star Abigail Breslin talk about CRYING over meeting him!)
Vital stats: Zachary David Alexander Efron (yes, that’s his real full name and, yes, it’s quite the mouth full) was born 24 years ago on October 18 in California. When he wasn’t in school, Zac was bulking up his resume in local theater before eventually getting scoring an agent at the suggestion of his drama teacher. Since breaking up with Vanessa Hudgens last year, Zac’s been flying solo.
Where you might have already seen him: Where do we begin? "Summerland," the "High School Musical" flicks, "Hairspray," "17 Again" and "Charlie St. Cloud" are the big gigs that the star is known for.
Why you should take notice of him now: Well, we don’t really have to remind you to take notice of this guy, but he is one of the many, many, many, many A-listers in Garry Marshall’s latest holiday-themed romantic comedy, "New Year’s Eve."
But, he’s got so much more going for him after the flick hits theaters this week. He’s set to star in the Nicholas Sparks tearjerker "The Lucky One," and is attached to or has banked roles in a number of other projects, like "The Paper Boy," "Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax" and a dir-tay comedy from the mind of Seth Rogen.
"He was really looking to be sullied, which is why we thought it would be a good idea," Seth told MTV News of how Zac came to be involved in the film.
"I've met him a few times over the years and the first thing you get from him is that he knows that a guy like me would probably hate him, and he works directly to counteract that feeling, which shows an amount of self awareness that is not prevalent among many young stars these days that I've met at award shows recently. And I think that's why I thought it would be really funny, he seemed like he was a really cool guy, that he'd be fun to work with and seemed that he was capable of much more than the Disney stuff we've seen him in."
Until next week, when we choose another Hump Day Hottie, you can salute Zac by clicking on the video above!
