Hopefully you romantic comedy-loving masses aren't tired of the ensemble-style film just yet because after ringing in this week's "New Year's Eve," you should circle a May 2012 due date on your calendar for "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
The big story surrounding the film so far is its all-star cast which, thanks to the release of the first official trailer on Yahoo! Movies Thursday, we now know includes the following couples: Elizabeth Banks and Ben Falcone, Dennis Quaid and Brooklyn Decker (the joke about their age gap is in the film, don't worry!) Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford, Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison, and Jennifer Lopez and Rodrigo Santoro. There is also lots of shirtless Joe Manganiello flanked by the "dudes group" of funny men Chris Rock, Thomas Lennon, Rob Heubel and Amir Talai.
The trailer opens with Elizabeth Banks' character complaining about the fact that she isn't experiencing the "glow of pregnancy" that she was promised by magazines.
"I'm calling it. Pregnancy sucks. Making a human being is really hard. I have no control over my body or my emotions," she says while giving a pregnancy speech to a group of expectant moms.
We're then introduced to the rest of the cast via quick clips. "Bridesmaids" fans will want to watch for scene-stealer Wendi McLendon-Covey, as well as Rebel Wilson, who played Kristen Wiig's looney roommate. Wendi is an apparent friend to JLo and helps coach her about new baby stuff, telling her that she must send her hubby Alex (Rodrigo) to "dudes group," the aforementioned funny foursome of stay-at-home, unconventional dads. They begin to educate Alex on the not-so-finer points of fatherhood: picking up the wrong kid from daycare, losing your son in the dryer, watching them eat a cigarette, etc. Oh, and their token hot, single guy friend hangs around with them in the park and is played by favorite "True Blood" werewolf Joe Manganiello.
If the movie is as fun as the trailer, count me in for opening day. I might just be satisfied with lots of shirtless Joe though, too.
