Garry Marshall's star-stuffed rom-com "New Year's Eve" (out today) may not mark the first on-screen pairing of Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer, but it certainly boasts the friendliest.
We recently caught up with the 24-year-old at the New York City premiere for the ensemble flick, where he recalled working with (and being awed by) the actress back in 2007. "I remember the first time I met her was on 'Hairspray,' and she's Michelle Pfeiffer—she had that aura, star aura—so I was always very nervous around her. We never really got the chance to connect on that movie," he said.
But that all changed with "New Year's Eve," in which Michelle plays a depressed office worker who hires bike messenger Zac to help her achieve all of her resolutions before the stroke of midnight. And as it turns out, Michelle was instrumental in getting the hunk to sign on to the project.
"I got a voicemail from her, and she said, 'Look, I would love to do this if you want to do it, and I want to take it to the next level.' And I'm like, 'I'm in 1,000 percent, and I love you so much, thank you so much for that phone call. I can't wait, let's do it!' And here we are. It was a dream come true," Zac said.
