If you've ever dreamt of clutching a tiny gold man, while sniffling a "thank you" to your third-cousin-twice-removed as Jack Nicholson looks on, well, we have just the thing for you. "Young Adult" star Charlize Theron stopped by the MTV newsroom recently to teach our own Josh Horowitz (and you, of course!) how to win an Oscar.
Yep, as we're sure you're aware, Ms. Theron won a statuette for her turn as a crazed killer in 2003's "Monster," so she's uniquely qualified to offer her professional advice on the topic. For starters, you best land a role as a real person (rather than a fictional one), if you want a nod. (For the record, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Charlize's "Young Adult" character, Mavis Gary, is totally real.*)

More often than not, my desk resembles a teen's lending library rather than an adult's workspace. And I'm totally cool with that because I wouldn't want to miss out on even one of the amazing reads that came out this year. As another 365 days of vampire romances, dystopian thrillers and murder mysteries comes to a close, it seems the opportune time to reflect on the year in YA.

And what a year it was. We were introduced to a handful of debut authors who are bound to leave their mark on the literary scene (we're looking at you, Veronica Roth, Marie Lu and Tahereh Mafi!). We dove into new series from old favorites (Richelle Mead's "Bloodlines"). And we continued our adventures with the usual suspects (Cassandra Clare, Ally Condie and Melissa de la Cruz). We stayed up late, reading just one more chapter until it was dawn, shuffling into school or the office like so many brain-hungry zombies. And we adored every second of it. And now it's time for you, Crushers, to declare your undying love and devotion for the book that made your year. What was your favorite YA novel of 2011? Vote in our poll after the jump!
(The poll closes at 11:59 p.m. ET on December 25. We'll announce the winner on December 27.)

With less than a week left 'til Christmas, our mailboxes are being flooded daily by seasonal greetings, holiday hellos and, of course, that inevitable three-page newsletter from the family of overachievers who want very much to wish you a merry Christmas—but while they're at it, did you know that they've run 400 marathons this year and all three of their kids are at Ivy League schools? Happy insecure holidays!

But when it comes to seasons greetings that make us vastly aware of the banality of our own little lives, nobody does it better than the Kardashians. The reality-show tribe has a proud tradition of wowing us with their haute-couture Christmas cards. And today, this year's card hit our inbox... and it's predictably glamorous as hell.

Whether you swooned over Ryan Gosling in "Drive" or guffawed along with five funny "Bridesmaids," we bet you have a handful of 2011 movies you're more than happy to call your favorites. And guess what! So do we.
MTV gathered five of its resident movie experts—Josh Horowitz, Eric Ditzian, Brooke Tarnov, Kevin Polowy and Amy Wilkinson—and asked them to nominate their top 10 picks of the year. The results were then compiled and tabulated into a master list for 2011. Of course, not everyone agreed about the final rankings, so we gathered them together to dish and debate the results. And you're invited to listen in to our live stream!
Click play on the video above to hear our five favorite movies of 2011, and be sure to leave a list of your own favorites in the comments below and on Twitter!

Sometimes, the Style Superstar honors we bestow on the fashionable dames of Hollywood come with a wild twist: a starlet who starts out slow on the fashion front, but then comes back the next day with an outfit that's pure perfection. And get ready, 'cause it's one of those weeks! Today, our style MVP is also the week's MIP (that's "most improved player," for the uninitiated), thanks to her fabulous followup to an earlier not-so-great attempt. Who are we talking about?

It's Rooney Mara, of course—who was ubiquitous this week during the multi-continent premiere events for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." Rooney has been channeling Lisbeth Salander in a major way with her style choices for the various premieres, sticking strictly with basic black or white and opting for unexpected silhouettes with cut-out accents, echoing the distressed gothic aesthetic of her wardrobe for the film. Call it "Lisbeth Couture"! But at first, it wasn't quite working: at the Stockholm premiere, her Roksanda Illincic jumpsuit was wrinkled, overlarge, and waaaaay too long (although none of this stopped Rooney from donning some gorgeous crimson lipstick and laughing it up adorably with Stellan "Father of Alexander" Skarsgård).

Looks like Elton may finally bag Cher after all! It's been confirmed that Alicia Silverstone will guest star on Jeremy Sisto's ABC comedy, "Suburgatory."
The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Alicia will appear on the show in a multi-episode arc, and she’ll be a potential love interest for Jeremy’s single dad character, George. However, love’s course won’t run so smoothly. Her job will come between George and his bestie, Noah.

Breaking breakup news! Ashley Tisdale and longtime BF Scott Speer called it quits. Don’t worry, Ash, no one really knows who he is anyway! It can be painful updating your status from "In a relationship" to "Single," so to help a girl out, we brainstormed some replacement BFs for the Tis. Because you know what they say, there’s no better way to get over someone than to suck face with someone else. One guy you won’t see on the list? Zac Efron. You can’t date your BFF’s ex. Gotta respect the girl code!

Few silver-screen styles have been as instantly recognizable as Lisbeth Salander's, the raven-haired, pierced punk-hacker portrayed by actress Rooney Mara in the upcoming "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (hitting theaters December 20). As such, we were thrilled to catch up with costumer Trish Summerville at last night's New York City premiere, where she not only talked about styling Salander but also her just-released "Dragon Tattoo"-inspired line at H&M.
"I worked really closely with David Fincher when we first started the film, before Rooney was even cast," Trish told us about her frequent collaborator. "We did a lot of research on Swedish fashion, just made sure her clothes were authentic and worn down."
In addition to Fincher's input, Trish said that Rooney herself had a hand in selecting items for the fierce heroine. "In the beginning, I think it was quite overwhelming for her because she had to dive in so whole-heartedly into everything. But along the way there were pieces she was more drawn to, and we'd sit down and pick what she'd wear for different scenes."

It took a little more than three hours, but one "Hunger Games" fan's sleuthing paid off.
With 100 days to go until the film's release, Lionsgate celebrated by launching an online scavenger hunt, in which 100 puzzle pieces were distributed across the web (including here at Hollywood Crush). The #HungerGames100 Poster Puzzle Hunt tasked fans with not only finding each portion, but piecing them together to reveal a new poster for the adaptation. @johnshoward was the first to tweet out an image of the finished puzzle, and we have no doubt this fresh bit of collateral will leave fans hungrier than ever for the film's March 23 release.

If you've been waiting with bated breath for the second season of "House of Anubis" on Nickelodeon, here's something you won't want to miss: the exclusive trailer, with sneak peeks at the drama, mystery and intrigue to come! What secrets does the house have in store?
Well, for one thing, some unidentified things have returned. We know this, because right away, a scary-looking guy shouts, "They have returned, Coviar!"
OMG! Already, so much drama! But alas, we have no idea who has returned or what Coviar thinks about it, because a) Coviar is a bird and just sits there, and b) the trailer jump-cuts away to show us the full gamut of deadly risks in store for our heroes as they seek to unlock the mysteries of their boarding house. There's an elaborate torture hall full of swinging knives! A ghostly thingamabob made of black smoke! A bunch of kids getting trapped, Indiana-Jones-style, behind a really big rock slab! And, of course, the burning, eternal question: What lies beneath the House of Anubis?
