Do you need a nice, sunny celeb feature to drag you out of the early winter doldrums? Well, look who's flirting with you from the pages of February's Glamour: It's Rachel McAdams! Our longtime ladycrush is on the cover of the mag next month, totally bringing the cute in a saucy, '70s-inspired photoshoot (including a provocative pic involving pasta. Yow!). And inside, she happily chats with her interviewer about her approach to acting, her off-screen relationship and how much she loves her home in Toronto.
Right out of the gate, we get a perfect reminder of just why everyone loves Rachel so much: She can always be counted on for a totally authentic performance that really gets to the heart of the person she's playing—even when that means giving her on-set stylist a reality check.
"I love those preliminary conversations about who a character is," she said. "You try on wigs, shoes and clothes. It’s preferable when it’s not about looking pretty. It can get a little dull to just be cute. We talk about things like, maybe my character can’t afford these Christian Louboutins. [The stylist] will say, “No one will notice.” And I’m like, “Everyone knows that red-bottom shoe!”"
And when it comes time to research a role, Rachel said that getting educated is part of the fun.
"I use filming as an excuse to take classes," she admitted. "I got my certification in sailing for 'Wedding Crashers,' and now I can handle a 26-foot boat. I played a seamstress once, so I took sewing classes. I love dipping into these other lives."

All in all, Rachel's interview just confirms what we already knew: that she's smart, funny and down to earth...and that if we ever met her in real life, we would totally be best friends, obviously. But there was one big surprise in this piece—especially coming from someone who's had more than a few high-profile relationships with her costars. Because when it comes to mixing her personal and professional life, Rachel said that her off-screen love life has actually never, ever coincided with her on-screen one.
"A set may seem like a good place for romance, but I don’t think it’s very conducive; it’s too distracting," she said. "Every relationship I’ve had with a coworker has come after the fact, because you wind up actually spending a lot of time with those people promoting the movie."
On the one hand, that makes perfect sense.
On the other, that would mean that the kissing-in-the-rain scene between Rachel and Ryan Gosling was just acting.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
