Are you ready to "LOL"? The first trailer for Miley Cyrus' 2012 comedy has hit the web, promising, yes, a few chuckles, but also a heaping helping of teen angst when the film debuts later this year.
Miley stars as high-schooler Lola (otherwise known as LOL), who's navigating the awkwardness of adolescence (see: cheating boyfriends, mean girls, etc.) all while contending with her overbearing mother (played by Demi Moore). You don't need to look too long to find the usual teen tropes in this clip—the decor-demolishing house party, the locker-room rant, the glorious getaway to Paris. (Okay, maybe that last one isn't so customary...)
What isn't so clear from the trailer is what exactly the central conflict here is. I suspect Lola jets off to Paris without asking permission from her mother, so maybe that's where the main drama? (I mean, I'll be saying oui to this film regardless, but it'd be nice to have some idea...)
The film also stars dreamy English actor Douglas Booth (in his first American feature film) as Lola's boyfriend, Kyle, and "Twilight" star Ashley Greene as, rather fittingly, Ashley. "LOL" is a remake of a 2008 French film and hits theaters some time in 2012.
