Daniel Radcliffe has quite the history of taking on terrifying foes—evil dark lords, possessed diaries, hordes of Death Eaters and even a giant cave troll that looked like it was made of suet! But despite his many years of monster-fighting experience, Daniel revealed to MTV News' Josh Horowitz that he got the screaming meemies from an unlikely source:
"'Jumanji,'" he admitted. "The giant spiders in 'Jumanji' freaked me out as a kid. I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking I was seeing them around me."
Fair enough, dude. But we mustn't knock "Jumanji," since Daniel quickly pointed out that "it's an awesome film! It's just not necessarily 'The Exorcist.'"
And lest you think Daniel is the kind of pansy who can't make it all the way through a scary movie at all, he's got a good anecdote to save his reputation: "The first horror-thriller thing I watched was 'Anaconda.' 'Anaconda,' with Ice Cube... It was my friend's birthday party, and we all watched the film together, and we all picked a character. And when our character died we had to leave the room and couldn't watch the rest of the film. And I was there 'til the end, because Ice Cube survived!"
...Er. Did we say save his reputation? Because...but wait, said Daniel, he can do better.
"I like films like 'The Shining,'" he blurted, just before the interview wrapped up. "I should mention. I really should mention a good horror film at this point."
Phew. For a second there, we thought we'd have to title this post, "Daniel Radcliffe Is A Big Scaredypants!" Better fix that.
Did "Jumanji" scare you as a kid?
