In just a few short hours, Bella and Edward will be yours to have and to hold forever as "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" hits DVD and Blu-ray. Target stores across the country (500 in all) will be hosting special release parties beginning at 11 p.m., where you'll not only be able to pick up a copy of the hot hit but also see a sneak peek clip of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." (Yes, we are squeezing our Edward Cullen doll extra tight right now to avoid hyperventilating...)
But we can't let Target have all the fun. Nuh-uh. Which is why we spent the better part of this afternoon watching the disc's nearly 90-minute, six-part making-of documentary. And boy did we learn a lot—we could write a thesis! But we won't. Cause that'd be boring. So instead, we've compiled a list of five interesting facts we gleaned from the special feature. Check 'em out after the jump!
1. Wedding wear is timeless.
Each wedding frock worn for Bella and Edward's big day was meant to represent the time period in which that character thrived as a human. Especially fashionista Alice. "With Alice's dress, we thought of the world she came from, the '20s and the '30s. We looked at the dresses in those periods," said costume designer Michael Wilkinson.
2. Lapa is where the kids are.
"I said to Bill, what if we actually found the place where these kids go," recalled production designer Richard Sherman regarding the Rio de Janeiro honeymoon scene. "Like, if it was New York, we'd be in the East Village not the Upper East Side. If it was Paris, we'd be in the 18th [district] and not the 2nd, so that when these kids in Brazil actually see this movie, they'll say, 'Oh, Lapa! They got it right. That's where we go.'"
3. Whatever you do, don't let Robert Pattinson take you anywhere in a motorboat. Ever.
"I went for a lesson and crashed the practice boat. Then I went to Brazil and crashed the Brazilian boat too. I'm definitely not nautical," Robert said with a laugh. "But it was really fun. After a couple of takes I very much considered leaving in it."
4. Beware the bean bags.
Obviously the werewolf siege at the Cullen house makes ample use of CGI, but the actors of the Cullen clan needed something tangible to fight in order to make the scene look real. Enter giant bean bags hurtled repeatedly at the stars. "The hardest thing about filming the scenes is not laughing the whole time," Jackson Rathbone revealed. "That's the real acting there."
5. Kristen Stewart is fit for fierce Snow.
"She should become like Schwarzenegger or something," Bill said of Kristen's enthused reaction to special effects work. "She's a total action star in the making." Guess we know one person who'll be lining up for "Snow White and the Huntsman."
