So finely attuned is the Hollywood Crush team to all things Hunger Gamey, that even the most passing mention of news from the production of "Catching Fire" registers on our consciousness much like a Bat Signal ablaze in the night sky...which is why this newsy little Deadline piece about Philip Seymour Hoffman going agentless caused all of us to sit up and go, "WHAAAAT?" Just skip to the end and feast your eyes on the part where the author casually mentions that oh, by the way, rumor has it that Philip has been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in "The Hunger Games" sequel.
This would be a perfect change of pace for the actor, whose recent roles have all been pretty challenging and rumpled-looking—after killing it in "Death of a Salesman" on Broadway, dude could use a little Capitol glitz and glamour in the part of Head Gamemaker for the Quarter Quell. Just imagine what an awesome beard he'd get to wear! And with very little info coming out of the "Catching Fire" casting process thus far, the tapping of the Oscar-winning PSH for this part is a heartening sign that director Francis Lawrence is taking his duties very seriously and stocking his movie with quality peeps. Will this be the first big get for the much-anticipated sequel? There's no comment from Lionsgate yet, but when there is, you'll be the first to know, because we are watching the internet like a hawk.
