The magical moment is finally upon us! The first teaser trailer for the big-screen adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's "Beautiful Creatures" debuts later today...and let's just say we're as anxious as a caster on claiming day!
The film stars newcomer Alden Ehrenreich as Ethan Wate, a South Carolina teen who's been having fitful dreams starring a mystery girl whom he's never met. That is, until said girl moves to town to live with her recluse of an uncle. And she's anything but ordinary, herself. Ethan and Lena have an immediate, electric connection; one that will be put to the test as Lena comes to terms with who—and what—she will become.
As we gear up for the teaser trailer's release, we can't help but ponder the moments we want to see most from this supernatural tale. Sure, the clip probably won't be longer than a minute, but that doesn't mean we can't compile a jam-packed wish list anyway! Check ours out after the jump, and leave your own in the comments!
Ethan, Lena and storm makes three
This isn't your mother's meet-cute. It's all storm clouds and torrential rain, as Ethan tears through the downpour in his friend's beat-up truck. He nearly mows someone down—that someone being new classmate Lena, who needs a lift after her hearse (yep, you read that correctly) breaks down. It's in that moment Ethan realizes that Lena is, literally, the girl of his dreams.
Ridley's siren song
Speaking of first impressions, Lena's dark caster cousin, Ridley, may boast the best introduction of the whole series as she blows back into town for the first time since her claiming. With "Shameless" actress Emmy Rossum embodying this bad girl, it's safe to say Ridley will be a force to be reckoned with. Watch out, Link!
Lena shows her power
We witnessed "Beautiful Creatures"' practical special effects first-hand while visiting the New Orleans set earlier this year. And as dazzling as it all looked in person, we can't wait to see how it translates onto celluloid. Bring on the elements!
Something with Jeremy Irons...or Viola Davis...or Emma Thompson
Unfortunately, none of the "grown-ups" was on set the day of our visit, so we didn't get to see Macon Ravenwood, Amma or Mrs. Lincoln in action. With three Oscar wins and an additional three nominations among them, these stars will leave plenty of shine on this adaptation—and we want a sneak peek!
A fiery flashback
Ethan and Lena realize their connection is stronger than they thought after sharing a series of visions dating back to the Civil War. We're suckers for a good period piece, so here's hoping we get a look at some 19th century garb.
