She's baaaaaaaaaack. If you thought Mona (known to the textually active as "A") would be a permanent patient at Radley, you were sorely mistaken. Because as this clip from the winter premiere of "Pretty Little Liars" (returning Tuesday, January 8) shows, the terrible texter has returned to Rosewood High to wreak havoc in the hallways once again. In the words of Spencer Hastings: Welcome to Mona 2.0.
Of course, the teen isn't working alone—she has a whole A Team on her side. And, as we learned during the summer finale, seemingly sweet Toby is part of that nefarious alliance—a fact his sweetheart Spencer will learn in an upcoming episode.
But there's more! When we caught up with executive producer I. Marlene King at the orange-carpet premiere of the series' Halloween special, she let slip that we'll learn additional details about A in the back half of season three.
"I think what people don't know, which we haven't talked about before tonight, is that you will find out in season 3B why red is the new black," she said. "We've teased that all throughout season 3A—'Red is the new black.' You'll find out in season 3 what that means and why. There will be a new iconic image in our show, which sort of transcends the black hoodie."
We agree with many fans that this "new symbol" is likely Vivan Darkbloom's scarlet-colored trench coat, but we'll all have to tune into the premiere to find out more!
