We didn't pay much mind to this year's National Television Awards, a sort of British equivalent to the Emmys that's populated by mysterious English celebrities and shows we've never heard of—but we did sit up and take notice when a photo of Laura Whitmore, a presenter for MTV Europe, came across the wire. Two words, y'all: That. Dress.
Our colleague across the pond made this lemony gown a gorgeous standout at the NTAs, styling herself with a fun, contemporary nod to old-school vintage glamour. The sweeping, beaded dress is a bold riff on the slender bias-cut looks of the 1930s, updated with a punch of serious color and the subtle gleam of a golden clutch. Add the soft retro waves and bright red lips, and Laura's look was a lovely homage to classic Hollywood and this week's Style Superstar.
Meanwhile, stateside, Ashley Tisdale stepped out for the L.A. premiere of "Movie 43"—and stepped into the fashion critics' crosshairs. The actress has put together a number of great looks this year, but still doesn't quite have the hang of dressing her age; this dress, with its baby doll silhouette and lace bodice, would look more at home on her 16-year-old "High School Musical" character. Here's hoping she finds her way into a more grownup silhouette for her next event.
What do you think of this week's best and worst dressed?
