Hopefully this will be easier than making fetch happen. Tina Fey has revealed that her post-"30 Rock" plans include bringing "Mean Girls" to the stage in musical form. Yes, you read that right. "Mean Girls: The Musical" is in development.
Tina revealed the details on the red carpet at the SAG Awards on Sunday night, and we will be wearing pink on Wednesday to celebrate.
"Maybe! We want to. I would love to," she told E! of the project before taking home a SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. "I'm trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for ‘30 Rock,’ and I think Paramount's on board."
We already know two people who would be psyched to see the 2004 film go from the screen to the stage with some catchy tunes thrown in for good measure. And, no, we don’t mean Regina George and Cady Heron. We are, of course, referring to Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj who have already put their affinity for the movie on full display during this season of “American Idol.”
And, it seems one of those girls is just mean enough for Tina to want to cast in the musical. "I loved it!" she said of the feud. "And I think Mariah won. Like, Mariah seemed to really know all the characters. Maybe she can play Amy Poehler's part in the musical."
