Behold the smarmy-sexy face of PURE UNADULTERATED EVIL, you guys: the villainous antagonist has been cast in the TV adaptation of Lauren Oliver's "Delirium," and he's every inch the handsome devil you've been hoping for.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the role of Thomas Fineman, a lobbyist determined to fight tooth and nail for the eradication of deliria, a.k.a. love, a.k.a. this man was clearly not hugged enough as a child, will be played by Billy Campbell. (You might know his craggily handsome mug from his recent appearances on "The Killing"; this blogger recognizes him as the babyfaced heartthrob of early-1990s retro romance "The Rocketeer," in which he was adorable, just FYI.)
For those not in the know: "Delirium" takes place in a futuristic society where passion is verboten, and all citizens' capacity to love is eradicated at age 18 with a government-mandated procedure. Fineman's character is described as a monied politician with "laser-white teeth and a John Boehner tan," and a rabid proponent of the lobotomy that renders citizens incapable of feeling amorous.
Things are really moving on "Delirium", with Emma Roberts already in place as the series' heroine and everyone getting seriously psyched about the promising pilot. And now that they've scored their main bad guy, they can't possibly hold off any longer on finding a swoon-worthy actor to play Alex. ...Right? Please?
Who do you want to see cast next for the "Delirium" pilot?
