Paging everyone in the entire world: Selena Gomez is all grown up and she's not afraid to show it. When the singer took the stage at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night, she brought her brand-new single, "Come & Get It," to the show—and a spicy, saucy new image.
In a little red number, she took her stage persona to the next level, thanks to world music influences, borrowing heavily from Indian culture and splashy Bollywood performance numbers. Prior to hitting the stage, Selena made it clear she was looking to Britney Spears as an influence for the performance. And watching her perform it was clear that she’s boned up on everything Brit. Did you also get déjà vu during her set, feeling like you were watching a 2.0 version of Britney's infamous “I’m A Slave 4 U” VMA performance from back in the day?
“Come & Get It” is the lead single off Selena’s forthcoming summer album. It was produced by Stargate and features songwriting from Ester Dean. Yes, the same Ester Dean who also hit the MTV Movie Awards stage with her “Pitch Perfect” co-stars to perform a brand-new mash up.
