Katniss, Tris and Clary: There is another poised to join your ranks.
"Graceling," Kristin Cashore's debut novel and the first in her fantasy trilogy, has been optioned by Reliance Entertainment with screenwriter Piers Ashworth attached to pen the script, Variety reports.
The novel centers around teen Katsa, one of a select few Graced with a special skill. But unlike those with superior abilities in, say, dancing or storytelling, Katsa is a born killer, and it's a talent put to nefarious use by her uncle, who just so happens to be king. But Katsa's life is forever changed when she meets a fellow Graceling named Po.
Producer Deepak Nayar described the project as a sort of "Hunger Games" meets "Game of Thrones," and with two more book installments ("Fire" and "Bitterblue") already published, this could be another fan-favorite film franchise in the making.
No word yet on when the project could begin production.
