It seems it's not just Marnie who is nursing a broken heart after Charlie's (Christopher Abbott) departure from "Girls."
Allison Williams is opening up about having to bid her on-screen boyfriend adieu after spending two seasons falling in and out of love with the adorable internet mogul.
She told TVLine that Christopher's departure has had "a huge effect on our show and Marnie specifically." That makes sense given how important a role Charlie played as Marnie's on-again, off-again beau. While the couple seemed poised to make it work during the show’s second season finale, after lots of breakups and makeups, Allison noted, "it’s almost as if we skipped her third season and have gone on to single Marnie."
So does this mean another bummer summer for Hannah's bestie? You'll recall that Marnie was inundated with a lot of malaise last season, mostly prompted by her love life and career woes. And, let’s not forget her Lady Gaga-esque art party dress.
While fans are interested in seeing how Christopher's exit will be handled on the show, Allison added, "The minute I heard the news, there wasn't a single doubt in my mind that [the show's writing staff] would come up with great stuff for Marnie to be doing. And what we’ve done so far and what we’re continuing to do is so excellent."
