Cory and Topanga are officially back!
Disney announced today that the highly anticipated "Boy Meets World" spin-off, "Girl Meets World," has been ordered to series and will premiere next year.
Fans have been buzzing about the '90s sitcom reboot ever since news of the pilot broke late last year.
Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, but the show will focus on their 13-year-old daughter, Riley Matthews, played by newcomer Rowan Blanchard. Sabrina Carpenter will play Maya, Riley’s best friend.
According to TVLine, the series is set in New York and will follow Riley as she enters the 7th grade—with dad Cory as her history teacher. Also, mom Topanga owns a hip hangout spot that sells pudding. (A Rice to Riches rip-off?)
In addition to Ben and Danielle, "Girl Meets World" could see the return of other beloved "Boy Meets World" actors. While filming the pilot, Blanchard Instagrammed photos of former stars Rider Strong (bad-boy bestie Shawn), Will Friedle (Cory's dim-witted brother) and Maitland Ward Baxter (Rachel McGuire) visiting set.
Production on the series will begin this summer in L.A. for a 2014 premiere on the Disney Channel.
