"Catching Fire" won't hit theaters until the end of this year, but that's no reason not to start flipping out a full 18 months in advance over OMG SO EXCITING casting news for the "Hunger Games" trilogy's final two films...er, is it? Whatever! It's too late! We're already wearing our party hats! Because the dish from Deadline is that the franchise is about to get its hands on a major player in the oncoming revolution: Julianne Moore is circling the role of President Alma Coin.
For those not in the know (and who don't mind minor spoilers), Coin is the chilly grande dame in charge of the mysterious District 13, which becomes a pivotal setting for Panem's revolutionaries in the bestselling trilogy's third and final installment. In this case, with "Mockingjay" being split into two separate films, it would likely mean a double movie deal for whomever takes the role of the ambitious madame President.
And while it remains to be seen if the rumor of Julianne's involvement is true, she'd make a great pick! Not only is she an Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated actress—probably best-known lately for her pitch-perfect portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's "Game Change" and her hilarious performance in "Crazy, Stupid, Love"—but she's already got a relationship with at least one of the franchise's young stars: She played one of two moms to Josh Hutcherson in the Oscar-nominated "The Kids Are All Right."
Does Julianne get your vote as President Coin?
