If you like the idea of Jamie Campbell Bower as the wry, sardonic, sex-a-licious demon slayer Jace Wayland in "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," then you'll love what The Hollywood Reporter has to say about how you can see him this summer: namely, projected in exquisite detail on a ginormous screen approximately two stories high.
Yep, that's right! The film adaptation of Cassandra Clare's best-selling book is getting the IMAX treatment, which means that we can spend its two-odd glorious hours of running time getting an up-close-and-personal view of Mister Wayland's every perfect pore...not to mention all those long, lingering shots of his leather-clad butt as it flexes its way through various Shadowhunter acrobatics.
Oh, and there's also something about the excitement of seeing the film's vibrant urban fantasy world in a way that only IMAX can offer, and won't it be great to enjoy the action in this groundbreaking format, and we'll really be able to see the costumes, blah blah blah. Whatever. That's all well and good, but let's not pretend like there's any better reason to see this biz on the biggest big screen in the world than the prospect of a giant Jace Wayland butt waving around up there like a black leather zeppelin in an erotic tornado. Can you even imagine? Each cheek is going to be, like, 10 feet in diameter. We're buying our tickets right now.
"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" will be out in IMAX, and everywhere else, August 21.
Are you going to check this one out in IMAX, or will a smaller big screen be adequate?
