What would "Glee" be without its tremendous lineup of guest stars? From Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker to Britney Spears and John Stamos, the musical television series has definitely called upon a heaping helping of Hollywood heavyweights. So, naturally, another famous face is being added as the show gears up for season five.
On Wednesday, creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter to announce that "the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall."
Adam will be the second "American Idol" alum to join the show, following season 11’s Jessica Sanchez, who brought her sass to powerhouse diva Frida Romero. While we're still waiting to hear exactly which role Adam will be taking on and whether he’ll be a series regular or just appear in a couple episodes, we've decided to take matters into our own hands with three characters we could see him playing.
1. A possible love interest for Kurt? It feels time for another man to stir up some drama between Kurt and Blaine. Similar to the Rachel and Finn proposal, we have a feeling that season four’s biggest cliffhanger (Blaine proposing to Kurt) won’t end in happily ever after just yet.
2. We do however have a hunch that Rachel will land the role of Fanny in "Funny Girl," allowing an opportunity for new characters to enter the mix as she begins rehearsals. From a musical director who becomes her close friend and mentor to "Funny Girl"'s leading man, Nick Arnstein, there are plenty of parts for Adam if the plot proceeds in this direction.
3. And finally, when in doubt make the guest star play a William McKinley High teacher! Past actors who have walked the halls include Gwyneth Paltrow, Ricky Martin, Idina Menzel and Molly Shannon. Not too shabby, huh Adam!?
We have no doubt Adam will entertain, whichever role he takes on. After all, this is definitely a match made in Gleek heaven!
"Glee" returns to Fox on September 19.
