Whatever you're doing right now, you should almost definitely stop it, grab your laptop and go hide somewhere in order to read Jennifer Lawrence's feature interview for the big September issue of Vogue. (Unless what you're doing right now is brain surgery, in which case you should finish that first, and then the Vogue.)
Photographed by Mario Testino in a shoot that features some seriously covetable high-fashion coats (yay!) and some even more seriously covetable dogs (double yay!), Jennifer exudes that effervescent je ne sais quoi that makes her Hollywood's most indomitable darling—and over the course of what her interviewer describes as a seven-hour bender, she's offering up some typically unguarded observations on what it's like to have catapulted from indie-film obscurity to the top of the A-list in just a few short years.
Jennifer has a lot to say about fame (interrupting her own interview to ask a cellphone paparazzo, "Can you stop?"), fate ("I always knew that I was going to be famous") and the perks of being every director's dreamgirl with her pick of choice parts ("I got to make out with Christian Bale!"). But because we're suckers for any peek into the world of celebrity romance—especially if it's got a "Stars, they're just like us!" spin to it—our favorite moment from her interview is the description of her now-defunct relationship with ex-boyfriend (but still good friend) Nicholas Hoult, in which the care and maintenance of kitchen sponges becomes a microcosm for the whole relationship:
"He would never wring them out. We were in the kitchen once, and I picked up the sponge, and it was soapy and wet, and I was like, ‘See? These are the kinds of things that make me think we are never going to work.'"
Yep, we've been there.
