Jessica Simpson Paula Abdul’s announcement last night, via her Twitter (@paulaabdul), that she would no longer be on "American Idol" sent fans, and celeb followers into a tailspin. E! News (and new reality star) anchor Giuliana Rancic started her own grassroots “Save Paula” campaign, urging fellow fans, “SAVE PAULA! SAVE PAULA! SAVE PAULA!!! Tweet this to all your friends if you want to SAVE PAULA on American Idol! Maybe Fox will listen!!!” While Denise Richards wrote, “I'm sad you won't be back...it won't be the same without you...xo”

Elsewhere, celebs were taking good care of their precious pooches today. Dax Shepard griped, “Just took my step-dogs to the groomer for the first time. They ask SO many questions. You’d think I was dropping off a vintage Ferrari,”while Jewel simply Tweeted, “Late 4 the dog groomer!”

Andrea LewisWhile Twitter is usually home to some lighthearted fare (yesterday celebs divulged us on what they’ve been dining on lately), news of Bill Clinton's meeting with the leader of North Korea and the pardoning of U.S. journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee that soon followed, spread like wildfire in the Twitterverse. Singer Rob Thomas joked, “how about our man william jefferson? he’s like dog the bounty hunter.” While Brooke Burke shared with a more serious, but equally celebratory, “US journalists pardoned!! yeah!!”

Elsewhere, celebs used Twitter to just spread a little love — Jason Mraz Tweeted, “Affirmation. If I wait until I become perfect to love myself, I will waste my whole life. I am already perfect right here and right now” — while others, like "Degrassi" star Andrea Lewis (pictured), just wished her friends would spread their love during normal business hours.

Jordin SparksMondays are usually something of a bummer, but honestly it’s hard to be down when it’s Shark Week! Even Jordin Sparks (pictured) is in on the fun, Tweeting that she, “has always been obsessed with Shark Week since I was little...sadly, I think it fuels my fear of the ocean. Ahahaha” But, if sharks scare you too much, the Twitterverse always has something else you can sink your teeth in to. Some, just not as nice as others, case in point, poor Nia Vardalos of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” discovered something even scarier than a Great White, “Found mayo in fridge from '08. Yes, I read the date after t'was in my mouth.”

Miley CyrusWe missed you yesterday, gang, so we’re hoping to make it up to you with today’s best celebrity Twitters! It seemed like everyone had some grievances to air, especially a certain matter between a certain famous couple and a certain controversial rapper. Nick Cannon (http://www.twitter.com/NickCannon) made quite a few note-so-subtle remarks regarding the ongoing battle, Tweeting, “Be patient in the moment of anger and escape a hundred days of sorrow!” and “Changing the world one hater at a time!”

But, Nick, Mariah and Eminem may have to step aside as Carson Daly (http://www.twitter.com/carsonjdaly) may have started a smack down with ‘American Idol.’ The former ‘Total Request Live’ host was Tweeting about his love for Kings of Leon with an abrupt jab at the mega-popular show, “Kings of leon deserve it all. So many tour dates, hard road work, albums, growth, time spent working. I hate american idol.” Let’s just hope KOL doesn’t get dragged into this!

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian gave her opinion on ‘The Ugly Truth’ and The Soup’s Joel McHale let us in on which vegetable he loves most (see below for both reveals.) Don’t forget to follow us for all your celebrity and Twitter fixes @hollywoodcrush and have a great weekend! Read More...

Danny Masterson It's no surprise that Twitter can inform us about some unlikely alliances, but none more apparent than today's match up of P. Diddy and Deepak Chopra. Diddy Tweeted his Zen-like chance encounter, while Michelle Branch had a run-in while running on the treadmill with a former "American Idol" contestant.

Speaking of "AI," our favorite host Ryan Seacrest (sorry, Dunkleman!) was all about auditions today. But, believe it or not, not for his show! Ryan shared, "NYC, Sex and the City 2 has an open casting call on Tue. for models, socialites, soccer players, all of which I'm none." Our favorite Tweet of the day, however, came from "That '70s Show" star Danny Masterson (pictured), who must have been really moved by our Hump Day Hottie because he 'fessed up to checking out a certain romantic comedy.

Tyra Banks With Comic-Con and Joe Jonas’ broken heart behind us (don’t worry Joe, we’re still here for you) the Twitterverse moved on to new topics, such as Ashley Tisdale’s new record Guilty Pleasure, which came out today (and gave us reason to applaud the star for having a big week — her movie, "Aliens in the Attic" also debuts on Friday). Ashley boasted on her page, "The album is at #2 on the itunes charts!!! Aahhh! Let's bring it to number 1!!!!”, meanwhile Drew Seeley gave her some love, Tweeting, “Everyone support my friend…today and pick up her album!,” as did her "Aliens" costar Carter Jenkins who put the album on his to-do list.

That wasn’t the only question on celebs’ minds today; Nicole Richie asked, “Who’s going to NO DOUBT tonight?” and Lo Bosworth wondered, “Who takes a taxi during the day in LA? I do! At least today...haha.” Meanwhile, Tyra Banks (pictured) decided to dish out advice to guys that involved Vaseline.

Julie & Julia With just three weeks until Meryl Streep and Amy Adams’ “Julie & Julia” hits the big screen, we got a sneak peek at the movie and decided it was just too delicious to keep to ourselves. Based on two true stories, the movie follows culinary master Julia Child (Meryl) and Julie Powell (Amy), a blogger who chronicles her experience cooking all of Child’s recipes from her book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking."

So is it c’est magnifique? Let’s just say Meryl and Amy redefine girl power (in the best way possible) and make us want to stay in the kitchen all summer ... despite the heat. Though the two (unfortunately) share zero screen time together, they may just be this summer’s most dynamic duo. Not to mention the ever-so-cute Chris Messina (“Away We Go”) as Amy’s devoted hubby Eric also makes an outstanding performance. Read More...

Best Friends Forever novel Yesterday marked the release of Jennifer Weiner’s latest must-have beach read "Best Friends Forever." And while the theme of two very different women, who despite their differences, share an unbreakable bond (see: "In Her Shoes") isn’t a far cry from her chick lit fare, it got us to thinking: If Jennifer's book is ever optioned for a movie, who could we see stepping in to play the two lead roles. After all, with so many book adaptations already out there — earlier today, one for "Wings" was announced — it doesn't seem so far fetched that we could see "BFF" hit the box office in the near future.

While Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette shined as polar opposite sisters in 2005’s "In Her Shoes," we wondered which real-life celeb pals could also play the popular, yet troubled, Val and the more down-to-earth Addie from "BFF" if Hollywood came calling. Read More...

Jigsaw Even though most of the nominees for the 2009 Teen Choice Awards (airing August 10th on Fox) have already been announced, news of more pre-Teen praise sent some stars into Twitter overdrive. Multiple nominee Miley Cyrus gushed over her TC love, Tweeting, “I honestly can't believe I got more nominations! I have the most amazing fans in the world!!! : ) I'm grinning from ear to ear! Xoxooxoxox.” Spencer Pratt, on the other hand, felt conflicted about his nomination (see after the jump for further proof).

Elsewhere, Katy Perry found herself with an unconventional (albeit, pretty awesome if you ask us) dressing room, Mandy Moore (pictured) ponders her 7th grade craft skills and Kellie Pickler gets the Free Credit Report jingle stuck in her head (we feel your pain!)

Lauren Conrad Yesterday’s emotional farewell to Michael Jackson at the Staples
Center in LA had the Twitter-verse buzzing again today. John Mayer, who performed “Human Nature” at the ceremony, wrote, “How do I resume Twittering after a day like yesterday? My cells feel different. Thank you to you all for your kind and loving replies.” Meanwhile, Kathy Griffin informed of us her own ties to the King of Pop, Tweeting, “Ok, how's this for some odd trivia? In 1984, I was actually an "extra" in MJ's famous Pepsi ad where his hair... Got to meet him in 1991”

But, while some stars are still reflecting, most have moved on to more pressing matters — such as the upcoming "MacGruber" movie, Shark Week tee shirts and missing the Gin Blossoms. While most of today’s Tweets besides those about MJ were lighter fare, we were all pretty bummed to read Kelly Osbourne’s news that her dad’s beloved pooch had passed on.
