The OriginalsEven if you're not a "Vampire Diaries" fan (WHY AREN'T YOU A "VAMPIRE DIARIES" FAN?!), you're going to want to tune in to "The Originals," the "TVD" spin-off debuting tonight following the "TVD" season five premiere. Why? Well, first off, have you SEEN the faces on this cast? Use your eyes, people. That should be reason enough.

But if you like some substance to go along with your sexy casts, you're in the right place. There are plenty of non-superficial reasons to add the series to your DVR lineup. The show follows the Original family of vampires as they try to regain control of New Orleans, the city they helped found, from the vengeful, power-drunk vampire they left in charge when they moved out a few hundred years ago. Mix in some witches, werewolves, an in-the-dark human and a half-werewolf, half-vampire/werewolf-hybrid baby (so, like, three quarters werewolf, one quarter vampire?) and you've got yourself one heck of a show.

What, that plot description didn't sell you either? Sheesh. Here are a few more things you'll find in "The Originals" premiere that should get you excited for the first season.

Sorta Like a Rock StarThere are no vampires, werewolves, or Shadowhunters in the latest young-adult book poised to become a movie. "Sorta Like a Rock Star," the YA debut of "Silver Linings Playbook" author Matthew Quick, isn't set in a dystopian future, only the very real present. But although there might not be any of the film industry's favorite supernatural beings in this story of a homeless teenager making it through her senior year of high school, the heart-wrenching story is getting its very own cinematic adaptation.

"SLRS" follows Amber Appleton, forced to live on the school bus her mom drives after her mom's boyfriend kicks them out. She's got a loyal dog and a collection of oddball friends (the school freaks, a church group of Korean ladies, an old woman in a nursing home and a Vietnam vet, to name a few), and is the most optimistic, upbeat teenager you've ever come across despite the crappy circumstances she's been dealt—that is until something so tragic comes along that even Amber can't overcome her depression.

Vampire DiariesWhat happens on the road stays on the road, at least when it comes to the post-graduate adventures Matt and Rebekah are having in Europe following the season four finale of "The Vampire Diaries." That includes the sexy threesome the two will partake in with the mysterious Nadia (played by Russian actress Olga Fonda) while abroad. Thankfully, we'll be privy to a glimpse at that love triangle when the show returns to The CW on October 3.

"Not to over-hype something that doesn't deserve some hyping, but it's a nice little flash of fun as we recap what happened over the summer while we were on hiatus and the vampires were living their lives," executive producer Julie Plec told Hollywood Crush of the steamy scenes. "So we get to see a nice little moment, in quotes—define it as you like—where Rebekah and Matt are living life to its fullest in Prague."

The OriginalsThere are plenty of beloved characters on "The Vampire Diaries"—in fact, there are so many so that the writers are constantly dreaming up inventive ways to bring back ones they've killed off—but very few are as polarizing as Hayley, the werewolf who came to Mystic Falls, had a one-night stand with Klaus, and is now pregnant with his hybrid supernatural baby.

Now that she's a central character in the spin-off, "The Originals," which premieres October 3 on The CW, will the fans start to like her? Phoebe Tonkin told Hollywood Crush recently that she hopes she'll be able to win them over soon.

Vampire Diaries"The Vampire Diaries" is full of WTF?! moments—we're talking at least two per episode, so multiply that by four seasons and you've screamed at your TV a LOT—but none elicited a louder reaction (at least in our house) than the revelation that Stefan is actually Silas' shadow self. That's right—Stefan is a doppelganger too!

Unfortunately, because Silas locked Stefan up in a safe and threw him off a cliff and stole his identity, no one knows Stefan isn't actually Stefan. Fortunately, executive producer Julie Plec told Hollywood Crush that it won't be too long before someone comes to his rescue. "I think the unveiling of the Silas secret identity treachery will happen quickly, because we tend not to drag that stuff out too long on 'The Vampire Diaries,'" Julie promised.

Pretty Little Liars"Pretty Little Liars" the show has done a good job of taking elements from the "PLL" books but retaining its own identity. But in "The Mirror Has Three Faces," it became increasingly obvious that CeCe Drake is not only dangerous, but she's also likely the embodiment of one of the later books' twists. Is CeCe Alison's twin?

The producers have said that they're not exploring that particular storyline, but something is definitely up. In this episode we learned that not only did CeCe maybe harbor a very long-standing grudge against the girls, but she and Alison also had a very creepy, unhealthy relationship where they took on each other's personalities. All signs are pointing to CeCe being the one sneaking under the DiLaurentis house, sending Toby the sheet music and generally tormenting the girls. Things aren't usually what they seem on "PLL," so will the next two episodes give us another villain to root against? Will CeCe get what she deserves? Or will we find out an even deeper connection to Alison than we even knew was possible?

The OriginalsWhen "The Originals" premieres October 3, our favorite deadly vampire/werewolf hybrid, Klaus, has two very large problems on his hands. First, there's his former protege, Marcel, who has taken over New Orleans, the city Klaus and his family founded. Second, there's the pesky issue that his one-night stand is pregnant with his baby, something that heretofore seemed impossible. But which one is Klaus more concerned about?

Marcel is priority No. 1, according to "The Originals" boss lady Julie Plec. "I think right now Klaus is sublimating all anxiety he has about this potential heir of his, whatever it may be, into a very strong and aggressive grab for power," Julie told Hollywood Crush recently.

Joseph Morgan, the dimple-cheeked Brit who embodies a terrifying character like Klaus so darn well that he makes a mass murderer not only likable but swoonworthy, echoed Julie's thoughts. "I think [he's concerned with] whatever's going to give him the power that he feels he deserves. So right now, I think it's Marcel," he told Hollywood Crush. "He's come to terms with the idea that maybe the baby doesn't need to be killed right away—he's at that stage with the whole pending fatherhood. But I think, really, right now it's about putting a plan into place where he can kind of manipulate the throne from Marcel."

Cassandra Clare"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" opens in theaters next week, but as the teenage demon slayers prepare to debut on the big screen, the author who created the franchise is wrapping up their stories in print. Cassandra Clare told Hollywood Crush this weekend that she’s hard at work on the final book in "The Mortal Instruments" series. But that doesn't mean we’ll see the end of the Shadowhunter world: Cassie’s already created an in-depth outline of her new trilogy, “The Dark Artifices.”

"I know exactly what’s going to happen," she said of the new series, which will take place in Los Angeles five years after the conclusion of the "TMI" books. "I’m still wrapping up the last book in the ‘Mortal Instruments’ series and the characters of ‘The Dark Artifices’ are introduced in it."

Vampire DiariesElena and Caroline are getting the full college experience when "The Vampire Diaries" returns on October 3—or at least the full TV college experience. The Mystic Falls BFFs will move in together when they matriculate at Whitmore College in season five, which, as we've learned through many years of TV-watching, means parties, hot boys and inordinately large dorm rooms.

"Look, we can all joke about it, but in order for a scene to look good, you need a lot of space to shoot in—especially when you're a show that shoots on long lenses," executive producer Julie Plec admitted to Hollywood Crush recently. "So yes, our dorm room is a little bigger than the dorm room I had in college."

But that doesn't mean it's not gonna be awesome. "We establish a university that's old and steeped in tradition and it's been around for a while, and the room reflects that. It's got the big arched ceilings and a good, old-world feel to it. So you will laugh, because yes, of course it's a little bit bigger than it should be, but we're proud of it."

Leah PipesLeah Pipes might be playing the token human on The CW's new "Vampire Diaries" spin-off, "The Originals," but she doesn't feel left out of all the supernatural goings-on. "I feel discriminated against," she joked to Hollywood Crush about her character's lack of powers. "No, I feel like it's a great thing because I just get to react in a normal way to what's happening around me. I think being an actor it might be harder to develop a vampire as a character, so I feel like I get it kind of easy. I'm also enjoying discovering everything with her."

Leah was introduced, along with the mysterious underground world of New Orleans, at the end of "TVD" season four. Her character, Camille, is a psychology student by day and bartender by night, and intriguing to both the head vampire in charge of N'awlins, Marcel, and everyone's favorite immortal vampire-werewolf hybrid, Klaus. Of course, Cami isn't yet aware of all the magic happening around her. "She is getting herself into some shenanigans, unbeknownst to her," Leah explained. "I think the friends she's making are a little suspect and there's a lot of drama happening around her. She's just managing to find her way right in the f-ing middle of it."
