Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday. Even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash, it’s my mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it’s cheaper than mailing a cake.

This week, we're celebrating a former feline fatale, a pair of New England-born brothers and two classic cinema lovers.

Ben & Casey Affleck (August 15): Not only were the Affleck brothers born in the same month, they were born on the same day -- albeit some years apart. Ben and Casey are both accomplished Hollywood personas on their own, but their career highlights reside in their mutual collaborations: the pair starred together in "Good Will Hunting" alongside Matt Damon, and Ben made his directorial debut with "Gone Baby Gone," a Boston-set crime drama starring younger brother Casey. Evangeline Lilly Just as everyone has an opinion, a favorite meal and a nose — albeit a fake one at times — so too does everyone have a birthday. Even celebrities. Here at Birthday Bash (a feature making its debut on Hollywood Crush, as our brother, Movies Blog, has gifted it to us) it’s my mission to salute the fine actors, filmmakers and other Hollywood heroes that are celebrating their special day this week. After all, it’s cheaper than mailing a cake.

This week, we're celebrating an island-bound actress, a twin pair of Frankensteins and a "Monster"-ous Hollywood talent.

Evangeline Lilly (August 3): Straight off of Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 comes actress Evangeline Lilly, who plays savvy fugitive Kate Austen on ABC's smash-hit series "Lost." The Canadian actress — or "Freckles," as Sawyer affectionately calls her — is a favorite amongst "Lost" fans, and is sure to find success after the show ends next year. Read More...

Henry CavillFROM SPLASH PAGE:There’s an old idiom that goes, “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” When it comes to the comic book genre, the saying could go, “Always a sidekick, never a superhero.” But in the case of actor Henry Cavill, even that adage doesn’t quite fit.

Cavill has achieved a large following for his role as Sir Charles Brandon on “The Tudors,” but he’s missed several opportunities to increase that fan base even more. There are reports that the young actor narrowly lost the role of Batman to Christian Bale some years ago. He was later attached to play Superman for director McG, but that project never flew, even if he did get to wear the costume. Read More...

Ryan Kwanten and Anna PaquinDown in the dumps that there wasn't a new episode of "True Blood" last Sunday? Fret not, my blood-craving brethren — like the fictional Tru Blood drink touted on the show, the Internet itself is often a sufficient replacement for that vampiric craving in your belly.

Case in point: just yesterday, E! Online revealed some fangtastic news about the show's upcoming events. From Jason Stackhouse's character arc to a bevy of new vampire characters, there was no shortage of information about the future of "True Blood" on display.

We've got the spoiler-filled rundown after the jump, so get those fangs on and let's get to it! Read More...

Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin The telepathic Sookie Stackhouse and typically mild-mannered vampire Bill Compton are lovers on "True Blood," but they sure do know how to put up a fight with one another. Apparently, that feistiness is just as intense offscreen.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, the real-life romantic couple that portray Sookie and Bill on the HBO series, have apparently taken to boxing as one of their favorite pastimes. While Stephen is a lifelong fan of the sport, Anna is relatively new to the game. Read More...

Carrie Preston and Michael Raymond-James We've gone over the differences between "Twilight" and "True Blood" before, but if there's one thing the HBO series has in droves over the comparatively less violent Edward-Bella love fest, it's the outpouring of monsters.

Sure, there are plenty of vampires and werewolves in both franchises, but "True Blood" is starting to get a little weird with the various creatures being introduced. Shape-shifters? Witches? Crazy moose things with the shouting and the venom and the clawing? Yeah, it's gotten more than a little strange — and if you ask actress Carrie Preston, who plays Arlene the waitress on the show, it's only going to get stranger.

"It gets more bizarre," Carrie revealed to Sci Fi Wire. "Like, truly dark and bizarre. It was pretty explicit last year, but I guess they have to go somewhere from last season." Read More...

Twilight and True BloodIf there's one thing that "Twilight" and "True Blood" fans can both agree upon, it's that vampires don't suck — well, they do literally suck, but... ah, you get the point.

No matter which one you're a fan of, both bloodthirsty franchises have strong support from their viewers. In a lot of cases, those viewers are active in the social media circuits like Twitter and Facebook. And while neither "Twilight" nor "True Blood" tends to edge the other out too badly in terms of online mentions, something very odd occurred to the contrary just last week.

OneRiot has compiled an interesting chart that details the amount of mentions that "Twilight" and "True Blood" each receive in the social media circuit — and while they're usually neck and neck, "True Blood" soared past "Twilight" on June 15, 2009, dwarfing the likes of Edward and Bella by eight times the normal amount of mentions. Kristen Bell Disney's newest comedy just got serious. Serious star power, that is. "You Again," a comedy flick starring the multi-faceted Kristen Bell — she's been a supervillain, a teenage spy and a snobby actress, after all! — has just picked up a whole slew of new actors to join the cast.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Kristen will be joined in the film by the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth, Odette Yustman ("The Unborn," "October Road"), Betty White and Victor Garber, as well as the previously cast Sigourney Weaver. Andy Fickman will direct the movie. Read More...
