Ever since “Twilight Saga” star Billy Burke told us about the cameo of new wave rocker Peter Murphy in “Eclipse,” fans have been trying to figure out where his Spanish vampire will fit into director David Slade’s movie. So, when we caught up with series screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, we had her shed some light on the dark flashback involving the former Bauhaus frontman.
“That’s cool, I didn’t know he was playing it,” she said of the scene, remembering it in the script but unaware that Peter had been cast in the role. “That’s one of the great things about ‘Eclipse,’ is that Stephenie [Meyer] goes into some of the backstories of ‘How did the wolves come to be?’ and ‘How did Rosalie come to be?’ and ‘How did Jasper come to be?’”

Recently, we had one of the standout supporting stars from the “Twilight” saga #8212; Billy Burke — swing by the MTV studios to discuss his work personifying Bella Swan’s loving-but-clueless dad Charlie. The more you watch “Twilight,” the more you notice what a great impact he was able to make in such a brief amount of time on-screen – and now that I’ve seen “New Moon,” I won’t give anything away while saying that Billy has done it again.
“I don’t worry about stealing scenes,” the veteran actor grinned when we asked him whether the term was insulting at all. “I take that as a compliment — thank you very much, that’s very nice. We can’t think about it in terms of that [while we’re acting]; you’ve got to do what feeds the story, and what’s honest about the character as best as possible. And that’s all I’m looking to do.”

It worked out pretty well for those Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Billy Bob Thornton guys. Now, could “Twilight” series star Justin Chon follow in their star-making footsteps and write himself a classic movie role?
Back in the mid-90s, the three stars were struggling actors who’d appeared in a decent number of feature films, but felt like they weren’t being offered the right kinds of roles by Hollywood. Mix in Matt and Ben’s screenplay for “Good Will Hunting,” an Oscar for Best Screenwriting, and the rest is history. Billy Bob Thornton followed a similar path with “Sling Blade.”

When you think of Aly & AJ, one of the last names that might come to mind is Alfred Hitchcock. And when you think of Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly, blood and gore isn’t exactly the order of the day. But next September, all these diverse forces will come together for "The Roomate," a movie a “Single White Female” storyline and hopes to terrify a new generation with a classic scene revolving around two key words: bloody bellybutton.
“I think it’s exciting to be able to continue to do our music, but at the same time branch out into our own acting careers,” explained Aly Michalka recently, proud of not only her and AJ’s new band name (78violet), but also movie careers that recently had Aly shoot “Roommate” with Leighton, Minka and Cam Gigandet. "'Roommate' was super cool to shoot with Leighton and Minka. They were sweet girls, and I had a fun time doing my crazy shower scene.”

What’s up? I am a new intern with MTV News. I’ve only been here for a week but let me tell you, we’re doing big things over here. My fellow interns and I got an exclusive sneak peek of some “New Moon” gear that will be hitting Nordstrom stores in a few week. Yesterday, Liliana showed you the “Team Wolfpack” tees, and now I get to show you more new stuff as MTV’s “Twilight Fashion Week” continues!
Now, I’m not big on showing off my “Twilight” obsession for the whole world to see — I mean, wearing a shirt with a big, screaming movie title just ain’t my style, OK? — which is exactly why I love today’s “Crest" tees (I'm wearing one of them in the picture above).

Over on MTV's Movies site, we just ran an interview with one of our favorite up-and-coming actors, British newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower. The dude has the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play a character in both the "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" franchises — what's cooler than that?
During our interview, however, Jamie did reveal one key fact that might not be met with such enthusiasm: Despite reports to the contrary, he's only expecting to be in one of the final two "Potter" movies.
"I play Gellert Grindelwald, who is an old friend of Dumbledore's," explained the 21-year-old actor. "It's a flashback character, which is good fun. I did a little bit before I went off and did 'New Moon.'" Read more...
It’s one of the most eagerly-anticipated movies of the next few months, and she’s one of our favorite stars, attempting to launch her grown-up movie career. So naturally, when A.J. Michalka starts talking Peter Jackson and “The Lovely Bones,” we listen.
“It comes out December 11th,” A.J. said of her first theatrical film, and first movie without sister Aly in the cast. “I’m really excited.”
Ever since the project — based on the acclaimed novel about a murdered young girl watching the events after her death from heaven — was announced, it has garnered Oscar speculation. And, echoing the statements of several others involved with the film, AJ said that we’ll want to keep a close eye on disguised-beyond-recognition veteran character actor Stanley Tucci. Read more...
There are so many great characters in the history of cinema forever linked with a theme song. Who can hear “Stuck in the Middle With You” on the radio and not think of Mr. Blonde? Ennio Morricone’s classic whistle without imagining The Man With No Name? Or Darth Vader’s “Imperial March,” which always signals the presence of the baddest man in the universe?
Somehow, the ball has been dropped with “Twilight”. Sure, the soundtrack to the first film was good, and Death Cab for Cutie might correct the situation. But how is it that none of these iconic characters has a song yet? Read more...
