Like any guy his age, Jake T. Austin plays baseball. Unlike most guys his age, he pitched a perfect game. Ok, not literally, but Austin does portray Angel Macias in the movie "The Perfect Game." In 1957, Macias made history not only pitching the only perfect game in Little League World Series championship game history, but by being a member of the first non-American team to take the title, the Industrials of Monterrey, Mexico.

But even with baseball on the brain, Austin had a moment to spare to chat about his costar on the popular Disney Channel show "Wizards of Waverly Place," Selena Gomez. “She’s a very talented actress for her age and she’s a really sweet and nice girl.” He added, “She’s got so much going on, it’s amazing how she’s able to stay grounded and keep sight of everything that’s important.”

What better place to hang out with Nicolas Sparks than a bookstore? That’s where USA Today met up with the author and the star of "The Last Song," Miley Cyrus, to chat about the film. Seeing his books adapted to film is nothing new for Sparks. "The Notebook," "A Walk to Remember," "Nights in Rodanthe," "Dear John" and "Message in a Bottle" have all made it to the big screen. Miley, on the other hand, is at a crossroads in her career and trying to make the vital jump from teen idol to serious actress.

In "The Last Song," Miley stars as Ronnie, a young musician bitter about her parents’ divorce. She’s been living with her mother for the past three years, but reconnects with her father (Greg Kinnear) when she’s encouraged to spend the summer with him. While there, she catches the eye of a young guy, played by her actual boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth. Upon arriving at the store, Sparks asks Miley, "What'd you do for fun? Out with Liam?" “At first, he was working, so I was cute," she replies. "I went and got him coffee, bought him an Elvis CD and went and gave it to him at the photo shoot."

Fox 2000 has decided to take “Monte Carlo” in a whole new direction. According to Variety, the studio secured Selena Gomez to play one of three leads and Leighton Meester is possibly in the midst of negotiations to take one of the remaining two. It’s clear the massive success of “Twilight” and other films featuring Hollywood’s youngest stars has seriously influenced Fox 2000. Why else would they leave the plan to have Nicole Kidman and possibly Julia Roberts to star behind?

News of that powerhouse taking the lead surfaced in 2007, but now it’s a new year and Fox is going for a new look. Rather than having three Midwestern teachers posing as wealthy women in Monaco, it’ll be two college students and one recent high school grad. Nicole is still on board to produce and may still assume a supporting role.

The whole relationship advisor thing worked for Will Smith in “Hitch,” but can Nicole Kidman pull it off as well? As reported by New York Magazine's Vulture, Nicole is set to star in Relativity Media’s “The Wedding Doctor.” The film is exactly what it sounds like, Nicole’s character is a wedding doctor, someone who advises couples on their relationships pre-nuptials. A problem arises when she assesses her newest clients and concludes that she’s the better match for the groom-to-be. Now she and his fiancée are in the midst of an intense showdown.

Vulture points out the clear difference between Nicole and Will. No, not their skin tone, but Will’s booming career as opposed to Nicoles’s recent series of flops. Her last romantic comedy, a film adaptation of the popular show “Bewitched,” didn’t work any magic on the box office. So, why go for such a high cost actress when positive results aren’t guaranteed? There are tons of leading ladies who’ve found success in the genre. There’s Katherine Heigl, Anna Faris, Amy Adams or how about Leslie Mann? She’s certainly earned an opportunity to take a starring role.
