It would be great if we all could age as well as Barbie, because as she turns 51 today she looks just as good as she did when she was born back in 1959. In light of her celebration, we'll be kind enough to not point out that Barbie was the original queen of plastic surgery, though we're pretty sure Lisa Rinna and the Octo-Mom are working really hard to earn that crown. We also don't want to spoil the mystery of how Barbie has survived all these years without serious ankle and neck problems.
But Barbie is more than just a pretty face. She has worked her way into our pop culture beyond just her straight-to-DVD movies that show off her many, many skills and hobbies and her ability to constantly change her fashion style. We would like to show our appreciation for Barbie's 51 years in the business with a little look back at her most memorable pop culture appearances.
Last week Matthew Gray Gubler directed a very creepy episode of "Criminal Minds" entitled "Mosley Lane," and this week the star of the hit CBS procedural drama turns 30. Thus, we here at Hollywood Crush, who honored the crime-fighting babe as 2009's Hump Day Hottie of the Year (press play below to relive his original HDH video), extend the warmest birthday wishes to the man who makes grandpa sweaters look so good.
It seems that much like our invitation to Stephen Moyer's wedding to Anna Paquin, our invite to Matthew's big birthday bash has also gotten lost in the mail. That's fine, we'll forgive him for it... eventually.
You can wish Matthew a happy birthday in the comments section below!
Today isn't just the first day of a new month, nor is it simply the first day in over two weeks without an Olympic event to watch. Perhaps most importantly for fans of modern pop and R&B music, it's the sixteenth birthday of singer-songwriter Justin Bieber! And for fans of pop singer Ke$ha, get your birthday candles as well. The singer turns 23 today.
The "One Less Lonely Girl" performer was born in Stratford, Ontario in Canada on March 1, 1994. In his short career thus far, he's already seen several singles — including "One Time," "Favorite Girl" and "Love Me" — emerge as Top 40 hits on the Billboad Hot 100 and Top 15 his on the Canadian Hot 100 all before the actual release of his debut album "My World." He also made history when every song on the two-part album charted on the Hot 100 in the United States. Read More...
Happy birthday to Dakota Fanning, who is official sweet sixteen today! Though she celebrated her birthday in high Beverly Hills style Saturday night, now Dakota is officially 16 which means honestly, absolutely nothing. After all, when has age ever stopped her before?
Click on the photo below to see Dakota's career evolve throughout the years and keep reading to discover how she created such an impressive filmography for herself!
In fact, turning 17 will probably be a bigger deal for the young actress as it will mark a decade of her influence in Hollywood. Dakota became the youngest person ever, at age seven, to be nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role opposite Sean Penn in "I Am Sam." Though she didn't win (she lost to Helen Mirren in "Gosford Park"), such a big honor for Dakota's first ever film role foreshadowed the trajectory of her career since.
If you're Dakota Fanning turning 16 is especially sweet. The "New Moon" star will next be seen alongside Kristen Stewart in "The Runways" and just this past weekend the teen queen celebrated her birthday with friends and family in Los Angeles.
According to E! News the actress, who actually turns 16 tomorrow, was joined by 40 of those closest to her at Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills on Saturday night. "She looked like she was having fun and was really cool," a source tells E! about the get-together which kicked off at 7p.m. and ended sometime around 11p.m. "She was talking to her friends and laughing all night."
When most people think back to their 18th birthday, they remember a time when getting to class before the bell rings and landing on the “Employee of the Month” plaque at their part-time job could be considered great achievements. But as millions of fans know, today is the day Taylor Lautner becomes legal — and he’s got more ambitious plans.
In less than two years, the star with the stunning smile has gone from “Shark Boy” to superstar. Breaking through in “Twilight” and then last year’s “New Moon,” the teenager sometimes known as Jacob Black now has “Valentine’s Day” opening this weekend, at least three major films on the horizon — and at least two of those could become major franchises before he’s even able to have his first sip of alcohol.
There is already plenty of romantic drama from the likes of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) in the "Twilight" and "True Blood" vampire franchises, but they've luckily made room for another competing female lead — Nina Dobrev, the star of The CW's "The Vampire Diaries."
Nina, who turns 21 years old on Saturday, already has a significant resume when it comes to television and film fare, despite being very early in her acting career. From 2006 through 2009, Nina starred as Mia Jones in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" before landing the role that she's most commonly known for now — Elena Gilbert, the young student at the center of a romantic conflict between brothers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) on "The Vampire Diaries."
What does an elementary school teacher suffering from a Las Vegas-induced hangover have to do with an emotionally neglected but suddenly empowered housewife from the 1960s?
They're both fan-favorite characters from "The Hangover" and "Mad Men," played by Bradley Cooper and January Jones, and both happen to be celebrating their birthdays today!
Not only are former flames Jude Law and Sienna Miller fresh from the holiday season, the two of them have something else to celebrate — their birthdays. The two have reportedly rekindled their romance right on the eve of their respective birthdays, as Sienna turned 28 yesterday and Jude turns 37 today.
At least one part of their celebration plans are currently known as the pair was photographed vacationing together with three of Jude's children. Based on the photos, it seems that the two are happily on their way towards reconciliation.
If the name Stephenie Meyer is unfamiliar to you, then you've most likely been living under a rock for the past couple of years — or, perhaps, you've just been hiding in the dark, because sunlight makes your skin sparkle.
As the author behind the wildly popular "Twilight" novels, Stephenie is understandably enjoying some worldwide attention today on her 36th birthday. Not only has she penned some of the best-selling books of the decade, but her work has spawned an incredibly lucrative film franchise that brought Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner firmly into the public eye.
