It seems gentlemen aren't the only ones who prefer blondes. No matter which corner of pop culture you love to loiter in, it's likely you've stumbled upon Marilyn Monroe recently—billowing white skirt, coy smile, breathy come-ons and all. There's NBC's new series, "Smash," which debuted last night, and chronicles two Broadway neophytes' fight for the titular role in a production based on the bombshell's life. Then there's Michelle William's Oscar-nominated turn as the actress in last year's "My Week With Marilyn." Add in Nicki Minaj's latest leak, "Marilyn Monroe," and a playful homage from a certain "Gossip Girl," and clearly, Marilyn is having a moment.

It's all a bit curious considering the woman formerly known as Norma Jeane died nearly 50 years ago. Is she simply gone but not forgotten, or are there greater forces pushing us to re-examine the life of a woman whose life was rarely free of examination?

"We could say that the huge resurgence is a result of it being the 50th anniversary of her death this year. Although this probably has something to do with it, it certainly isn't all," said Michelle Morgan, author of "Marilyn Monroe: Private and Undisclosed." "What does Marilyn have that keeps her memory shining bright? Well, I think that really depends on who you're speaking to.

It's been just two days, but the internet is already crazy in love with the irreplaceable Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter born to Beyoncé and Jay-Z over the weekend in New York City. And with her mega-watt parentage, it's no surprise Blue has been welcomed into the Hollywood fold by the likes of Rihanna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Diddy, securing herself a place in the upper echelon of the famous-baby pantheon. (And, gosh, what an adorable pantheon that is.)

We, however, don't think the littlest Carter should rest on her laurels just yet. Sure, she's less than a week old, but it's never too early to star contemplating world domination. (Suri Cruise already has a five-year advantage!) To wit, we have a few suggestions for collaborations with other adorable star offspring that we'd like to see come to fruition within the next 25 years or so...

The gossip might stop for a hot second during the holidays, but the celebs kept on celebrating this weekend—and now that we're back on our game, it's time to check in with a Hollywood roundup of holiday fun! Who took their kiddies out for a wintry stroll? Who played not-so-secret Santa in a big way? Who imbibed a bit too much of the Christmas spirit and got into a seasonal spat? Read on!

First, there were shenanigans: Adam Lambert and his Finnish beau succumbed to a combo of jet lag, vodka and holiday stress, and got into a highly-publicized bar brawl just days before Christmas...but reconciled in plenty of time to break out the Nordic sweaters and traditional pulla in Helsinki on Christmas Day.

Miley CyrusMiley Cyrus is proving once again that she can't be tamed. (I know, I know, so 2010...)

For her 19th birthday last week, the starlet threw a fete at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with a number of famous faces in attendance, including friend Kelly Osbourne, who presented the birthday girl with one creative cake. As the sparkler-strewn confection was wheeled out, Miley was caught on tape (obtained by The Daily) saying, "You know you’re a stoner when friends make you a Bob Marley cake—you know you smoke way too much f---in’ weed."

The incident sparked plenty of headlines over the weekend, despite the fact that Kelly tweeted yesterday that the whole thing was a gag. "A JOKE! it makes me sick that @MileyCyrus so called 'friends' would sell her out and lead people 2 believe she is someone that she is not!" she wrote.

Even the most casual Miley observer can tell you that this is just the latest in a line of controversies involving the singing starlet. Let's take a look:

Everyone loves a man (or woman!) in uniform—and that goes for Hollywood's A-list, too. Just a week after "Friends With Benefits" co-star Justin Timberlake made good on his promise to attend a Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, VA, Mila Kunis hopped a plane to North Carolina for her own date with U.S. Marine Sgt. Scott Moore. The actress accepted her invitation to the event over the summer, when Sgt. Moore's heartfelt request for her company became a hit on YouTube.

Mila avoided the media during her visit to Greenville, N.C., in favor of quietly enjoying the evening's celebration of military history, but a couple of photos made their way onto the web at People, showing that Mila's look for the ball included a simple black dress and some seriously smoky eye makeup. And it looks like the pair avoided any first-date awkwardness swimmingly; in our favorite pic, she's animatedly talking while her date looks on with a big, gorgeous grin. Not that we blame him! If we'd singlehandedly started the whole "asking celebrities to military events via YouTube" trend, we'd be pretty pleased with ourselves, too.

I demand a recount.

People magazine revealed its pick for 2011's Sexiest Man Alive today, naming 36-year-old Bradley Cooper the hunkiest of all hunks. It's an appointment that sparked plenty of lively discussion in the MTV newsroom, mostly because it seemed so oddly timed.

To be sure, Bradley is quite the looker—you'll get no argument from me on this point. But the honor would have been much more fitting last year, when Bradley was riding high from the success of 2009's "The Hangover" and starring in flicks like "Valentine's Day" and "The A-Team." By comparison, this has been a quiet year for the star.

Conversely, you know who had an amazingly big year? Like, the kind of year that inspires countless internet memes and breakfast treats fashioned in his likeness? Ryan Gosling, that's who.

Justin TimberlakeJustin Timberlake has walked his share of big-deal red carpets, but according to JT himself, his most exciting appearance to date was one where the spotlight wasn't on him.

After attending the Marine Corps Ball in Richmond, Justin—who appeared on the arm of Cpl. Kelsey De Santis—took to his website to describe the evening as "one of the most moving... I’ve ever had." (He also posted a photo taken during the festivities, and he looked quite dapper next to his uniformed date. Only... dude, what's with the chin scruff? That is soooo not military-issue!)

You know how people like to say there's a little bit of truth behind every joke? Well, I think this clip of Jonah Hill is the epitome of that philosophy.

If you watch "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" (or have simply logged on to the internet within the last month), you probably heard about Jonah's talk show rant in which he called out "Glee" star Matthew Morrison for making him the butt of a joke not once, but twice (and in a very public manner). Watch the original clip if you need more background.

Matthew responded in kind with his own video egging on Jonah, which leaves us now wondering where the whole situation stands. And apparently we're not the only ones as Jonah told our own Josh Horowitz in a segment from his upcoming MTV First: "The Sitter" that he's still a bit confused about the whole thing.

Hilary Duff's maternal instincts are already kicking!

When the actress/author stopped by the MTV Newsroom last week to promote her just-released second novel, "Devoted," she told our own Christina Garibaldi that she thought she was pregnant with a boy. "Everyone else says it's a girl, but I think it's a boy," she said."I don't care what I get, but every time I think about it or dream about it, I see a boy."

Well, the 24-year-old's dreams are coming true: According to People, Hilary just revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that she and husband Mike Comrie are indeed having a boy!

It's no secret that Justin Bieber has a legion of fans around the world (hey, Beliebers!), but it should be known that he has many an admirer on the A-list, including "Ides of March" star and noted fan, Evan Rachel Wood.

At "The Ides of March" premiere this week, we asked cast members who they'd pick as their presidential running mate, and when Rachel picked Justin for the job, we had to ask about his just-announced Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe.
