True Blood and TwilightFROM MTV.COM:By a stroke of luck (or, perhaps, fate), MTV was fortunate to launch just before Michael Jackson went supernova.

Back in 1981, he wasn't yet a global brand or a cultural icon — he wasn't even the King of Pop. Rather, he was just ascending to the throne. He'd had some hits (1972's "Ben," the first two cuts — "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" and "Rock With You" — from 1979's Off the Wall), and he was ready to forever distance himself from his early years with the Jackson 5, but no one knew what to expect from him next.

Michael Jackson Music icon Michael Jackson passed away today at the age of 50 after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in L.A.

The King of Pop leaves behind an incredible legend having swept up an entire generation of fans and musical protégés in his wings. His vocal career, which has spanned decades ever since he first performed with his brothers and sisters as a member of The Jackson 5 in the late 60s, has even impacted the movie industry as his songs have been featured on an upwards of 50 soundtracks.

It may be cheesy, but the movie scene in which Michael Jackson's tunes stand out in my mind the most would have to be from 2004's rom com "13 Going on 30." Read More...

Zac and BreckinFROM MTV.COM: Just days after Perez Hilton's alleged altercation with Will.I.Am and the Black Eyed Peas' road manager Liborio "Polo" Molina, Zac Efron has teamed up with Breckin Meyer for a Funny or Die parody of Hilton's passionate video account of the incident.

In the video, Meyer says he is using his legal name of Luigi Lopez Hyack Banderas Conchito Alonzo as he describes an incident that occurred between him, Efron and Efron's girlfriend at the Robot Chicken skate party. In the same shaky-but-emphatic tone that Perez used in his video, Meyer says, "What happened to me ... happened to me as a human being and should never ever happen. Never. Ever. Never."

FROM MTV.COM: While Chris Brown was the one who was sentenced Monday (June 22) after striking a plea deal, the judge at the hearing also spoke to Rihanna and told her to avoid her onetime boyfriend under a "stay away" order.

According to an abuse expert, the judge's actions send "the wrong message" to victims.

"It's difficult when the criminal-justice system gets involved, because suddenly, the victim is on the sideline," said Bea Hanson, who works at Safe Horizon, an organization in Manhattan that helps abuse victims. "It's really about the abuser, and in this case, you have someone who sounded like she wanted to be with him. And the problem with the 'stay away' is the judge in that case said to her [that] it's as much about her as it is him. And that really sends the wrong message to victims of domestic violence. Because she's not the one that hit him; she was hit. And what it ends up looking like is that this [order] is something against her as well."

RihannaJust a few hours ago at a courtroom in L.A., a plea deal was announced between Chris Brown and the state of California in the singer's felony assault case. The hearing stems from a February incident, in which Brown's ex Rihanna was allegedly left battered and bruised by him.

Rihanna did not testify, but later entered the courtroom once Brown exited (see "Inside Chris Brown's Hearing" flipbook after the jump for more images). Her brief appearance consisted of listening to the judge explain the"stay away" order issued to Brown as terms for his guilty plea to domestic battery. "Thank you, your honor," Rihanna said and was then taken immediately out of the courtroom. Read More...
