"Beautiful Creatures" actress Emmy Rossum is ready to be one of the beautiful creatures at tonight's Met Ball—essentially the Academy Awards of fashion. The starlet took to Twitter today to broadcast her enthusiasm for the big night, whose theme is "Punk."
Emmy is one of several actresses, including Jennifer Morrison, Hailee Steinfeld and Naomie Harris, who will be wearing one-of-a-kind Donna Kara Atelier gowns to the festivities. We can't wait to see how beautiful they look!
Softly lit garden parties, sepia-toned photographs and tattered, faded memories of Jazz Age Manhattan: this, my friends, is not the New York City on display in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby." If you've seen so much as a poster for the film, you know that it's full of lush color, bright lights and all the vibrancy of a modern metropolis filled with energetic young things—and according to Catherine Martin, costumer and directorial spouse, that was entirely on purpose.
"Baz's biggest thing was that he did not want a nostalgic New York," she explained of the film's unique visual flair, which you can see in everything from the costumes to the cars to the neon debauchery of the sets. "He did not want a New York that felt kind of historical; he wanted it to feel as immediate and modern and visceral as it would have felt to Scott and Zelda [Fitzgerald], and all the characters in the book."
Remember a couple of weeks ago when we said that nobody, no-how, could pull off the pegged-ankle formal jumpsuit trend that has emerged in the past year? Well, fine. We were wrong. One person—one!—is apparently able to rock the look without coming off lumpy and ill-proportioned...and that person, through her sheer uniqueness, is this week's Style Superstar.
And we probably shouldn't be surprised that if any one person was going to prove us wrong on the jumpsuit front, it would be Ashley Madekwe. The supporting star of "Revenge," who is as beautiful of face and delicate of frame as a spindly-legged baby deer, put on this Topshop number for an LA event celebrating the designer's new "New Wave" collection—and looked amazing in it. The creamy color and simple check print are lovely against her skin, and the suit skims her frame in exactly the way it's supposed to (and the way these one-piece frocks refuse to do on just about anyone else.) Simple black sandals and understated jewelry completed the outfit for a polished, breezy spring look.
FROM MTV STYLE: With starring roles in film ("Beautiful Creatures") and TV ("Shameless"), it might be easy to forget that Emmy Rossum's roots are in music. (Remember when she combined the two in "Phantom of the Opera"? EPIC.) And now the starlet has released a new album titled Sentimental Journey.
Our lucky gal pals over at MTV Style sat down with Miss Rossum to discuss the sultry vintage style of her latest music videos "These Foolish Things" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out." Be sure to watch their exclusive interview!

After so many months of waiting and hoping and aching for "The Great Gatsby" to be released at last, we had entered a state of impatient longing not entirely unlike that of the titular character...but with a much happier outcome, fortunately, as the film finally premiered last night in New York City, and it was lovely! (Also, nobody was cheated on, run over or shot, which is always nice.)
The premiere was a major party attended by all the film's stars and then some—all sporting decidedly modern looks in comparison to the jazz-age fashions featured onscreen.
Nina Dobrev, who isn't in the movie, wore the most deco getup of the night with a black-and-gold sheath dress that mirrored the metalwork design featured in all of the "Gatsby" promotional materials; Carey Mulligan was stunning in a red strapless dress and sleek hair; and Isla Fisher covered up in a floral-print, three-quarter sleeved dress that faded to (semi-sheer) black as it reached her feet.
Here is the most whimsical little snippet of a stylish thing you'll see all day: Chanel has released the teeniest, tiniest preview of the upcoming short film "Once Upon a Time...", which stars Keira Knightley as Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in 1913 France. The short, directed by Karl Lagerfeld in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the opening of the first-ever Chanel store, depicts Coco's early beginnings as proprietress of a sweet boutique in the lovely seaside town of Deaufort. And even with just this little sneak peek to go on, it is really stinkin' cute.
In these few moments from the short, Coco (Keira) and a friend (Clotilde Hesme) bid a black-and-white hello to some friends in a classic car, while the fashion-minded denizens of Deauville wander up and down the most charming street ever to exist on film. Also, there's an incredible hat! Where is this all going?! We don't know, but it won't be long before the mysteries of this stylish mini-movie are solved, since "Once Upon a Time..." debuts in its entirety May 8 on chanel-news.com.
With warmer temperatures just around the corner, most celebs are starting to put away their sexy leather looks until things cool off again. (Black leather leggings and 90-degree heat: not a good combo.) But as long as spring stays chilly, at least two of our favorite stars are still working their biker-chic aesthetic like a couple of bosses...or Style Superstars, as the case may be. Whose last-gasp leather look slayed us this week?
No surprise here: this week's winning fashionista is Selena Gomez, who paused after an appearance on the "Late Show With David Letterman" to let fans feast their eyes on her Burberry trench coat and Brian Atwood boots. Selena is emerging as a serious style icon these days, and this look just further cements her trendsetter status: Footwear like this is hard to pull off, which just goes to show what a true-born Style Superstar Selena really is. Those boots are ridiculous and they look amazing on her, not least because she kept it simple with the matte black trench, natural makeup, and her long locks styled in casual, glossy waves—and no accessories, save for the esoteric touch of a teensy glittering jewel between her eyebrows.
FROM MTV STYLE: Late last year we told you about Selena Gomez's latest endorsement deal as the face of adidas NEO, and now (finally!) we're getting a peek at her fun, fresh ad campaign.
The "Spring Breakers" starlet sports an array of pieces—from a cheery yellow cardigan to graphic print leggings—in the eye-catching snaps. And we love it all, obviously.

We often find ourselves coveting the closets of cuties like Nina Dobrev and Emma Watson, but actress Jennette McCurdy took to Twitter today to share her sartorial admiration for an unlikely group of guys: One Direction!
Come to think of it, the former "iCarly" star does have a point...
Have you embraced an evergreen today? April 22 is Earth Day—an observance uniting millions around the globe in a single mission to clean up our planet. Our friends over at MTV Act have a list of five ways to take action on Earth Day, and it's a good one. After you've checked off a few items and done your part, why not treat yourself? With what, you may be asking. How about a handful of hot guys who've also gone green (by way of their clothing)? Sure, they're not all environmentalists, but no one's perfect!
Hollywood Crush's boyfriend Ryan Gosling is a sucker for a sapphire suit, evidenced by two separate though similarly hued looks he's sported over the last couple of years. The actor cut quite a form in a sleek green Gucci suit at the "Ides of March" premiere in L.A. in 2011, and in March, crushed us in a velvet number at "The Place Beyond the Pines" premiere in New York.
Ryan's made his commitment to the environment known, most recently penning a letter decrying the poor treatment of cattle.
