Sure, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may fit the characters of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan like a glove, but what if Stephenie Meyer's vamp classic was written during the high-flying, colorful 1980s? Who would glitter in the sun during the era of John Hughes and the Brat Pack?
Well, that's what we wondered too, which is why we're happy to present "Twilight:" 80's Edition! We've broken out the Adobe Photoshop and decided to cast our favorite "Twilight" characters if the film was made over twenty years ago. Instead of RPattz and KStew, fans could've easily been cheering on the romance of RPhoenix and ASheedy. In "Can't Hardly Wait," Amanda Beckett (Jennifer Love Hewitt) finds a letter declaring a mystery suitor's undying love for her causing her to spend night figuring out her secret admirer's identity (it happens to be kind-of-nerdy Preston Myers played by Ethan Embry). Though the gender roles are reversed, the story is similar In "Sixteen Candles," when Samantha Baker's (Ringwald) sex quiz indicating her preference for hunky senior Jack Ryan (Michael Shoeffling) falls in to the wrong hands.
Last weekend at Comic-Con, I had the pleasure of meeting Jamie Campbell Bower, the actor who’ll be playing Caius in the “New Moon” movie. He’s a fun, laid-back dude with a great sense of humor – all attributes which should endear him to “Twilight” fans in the years to come. Unfortunately, it might also be the reason behind some statements he made to me during the interview.
